The Victoria and Albert Museum is considered to be the world’s leading museum of art and design, so it’s no wonder that visitors flock from far and wide to get a peek at some of the 4.5 million

artefacts stood within its walls. The collections housed in the museum span over 2000 years of art and cover pretty much every medium, subject and discipline imaginable. As a city, London is

incredibly lucky to have access to such an extensive collection of artefacts on its doorstep.

A walk through the museum transported us through centuries upon centuries of ancient artwork. The V&A is home to unrivalled collections of priceless artefacts; everything from tapestries woven by artists in the Middle Ages, to Western European sculpture dating as far back as the 4th century. It’s all here, in one place, for our viewing pleasure. The V&A provides us with the most gratifying reminder of how incredibly lucky we are to be able to view the objects and artworks that tell us so much about times past. It reminds us of just how many generations have gone before us, and how amazing it is that we are here, now.

The Barbican Conservatory is without doubt, one of London’s most magical locations. Claiming itself as the city’s second largest heated conservatory, and housing over 2000

species of tropical plants and trees (as well as a handful of exotic fish) the Conservatory brings new meaning to the term ‘concrete jungle’. It is, quite simply, a tropical paradise. A breath of fresh air. A welcome juxtaposition within the confines of the area’s harsh and overpowering

Brutalist architecture. It’s hard to image that such a place could exist within the thriving streets of London but it does, and we highly recommend that you see it for yourself.

A trip to the Barbican Conservatory leaves us with a unique and satisfying sense of calm, a sense which cannot easily be obtained in a city that’s always watching the clock. It’s the kind of place that has the power to make you lose track of time, a power that is welcomed with open arms at times when Mondays seem to come around all too quickly. Open on Sundays from noon until 5pm, and with entry completely free of charge, a visit to the Conservatory made tearing ourselves away from the comfort and warmth of our duvet totally worth it.

Hubbard and Bell is a Brooklyn-style bar and grill, nestled in the heart of the Hoxton Hotel in Holborn, London. The NYC inspired menu reflects the eclectic aesthetic

of its surroundings, serving up a plethora of grilled meats, seafood, salads and heart-attack-inducing desserts, in an environment that’s bang on trend. Spoilt for choice is a phrase that sits

well with this restaurant. Its laid back atmosphere and rustic style made Hubbard and Bellthe perfect place for us to relax and refuel in the midst of a busy day in the capital.

The cool, New York City vibe is evident in the restaurant’s hip interior. The happy mustard yellow booths are reminiscent of something plucked straight from a Wes Anderson film set, while the white brick walls and imposing industrial light shades bring it back to the 21st century and tie in nicely with the look and feel of the Hoxton itself. Think East London meets downtown NYC and you’ve got this place sussed. Everything about Hubbard and Bell makes it an Iwwnstagrammer’s paradise and quite frankly we’re #hooked.
