INTRODUCTION

Formorethan160years,AlphaSigmaPhihas used a variety of symbols and insignia tooutwardlyexpressourValuesofSilence,Charity,Purity,Honor,andPatriotism.

We developed this Style Guide to help ensure that our message and image are accuratelyandconsistentlyexpressed.Thisguide provides the standards for use of the AlphaSigmaPhiFraternityandEducationalFoundationgraphicidentity.

Forspecificrulesofgrammar,spelling,punctuation,andwordusage,theFraternityand Foundation have adopted the guidelines ofTheChicagoManualofStyle.

OURHISTORY

AlphaSigmaPhiwasfoundedatYaleUniversityonDecember6,1845.LouisManigault,HoraceSpanglerWeiser,andStephenOrmsbyRhea,allfreshmen,laiddownthebasicprinciplesofasocietythattodaycountsitsmembershipinthetensofthousands.

Alpha Sigma Phi has maintained a proud traditionofcreatingandperpetuatingbrotherhoodformencoasttocoast.Throughtheyears,manybrothershavenotedthatAlphaSigmaPhimadeasignificantcontributionearlyintheirlives.Withgratitude,thesemembershaveremainedloyal and are supportive of the Fraternity’s future.

Today,AlphaSigmaPhiisrecognizedasafraternityofqualityandstature.Withmorethan110chapters,colonies,andinterestgroups,theFraternitycontinuestooffermeaningfulservicesandopportunitiestomorethan3,700undergraduatesand65,000livingalumni.
