The Constitutional Commission dealingwith devolution of funds has

recommended a support of US 1 billiondollars over the next five years for rewarding the States which facilitateaddition of renewable basedgeneration and support access tomarkets for renewables.

Present installed capacity based onrenewables is about 15 GW

This requires to be increased to 65 GW innext five years if RPO level is to go up to 10%

nationally, as suggested in NAPCC.But a large part of untapped potential islocated in the States which have alreadyachieved high levels of RPO.

REC mechanism is expected to overcomegeographical constraints and provide flexibilityto achieve RPO compliance
