One of the major projects, certainly one of the first to get them the international scope and experience that they deserved and longed for occurred in 1982 when they participated in

the upgrade of the road network in Lebanon. In 1991 the company opened a branch office in Musca, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman and from there Almabani played an important role in the delineation of the border between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.

In 1993 and 1994 Almabani was actively participating in the reconstruction programme of Lebanon where they not only participated in several infrastructural projects but also invested in the first of its kind BOT project in the GSM network of Lebanon. During 2001, they executed the delineation of the border between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi and the Republic of Yemen and since then Almabani has successfully completed three other delination in the region.

“With growth, expansion became ineventiable and to achieve this we had to increase our capital,” so says ADA Projects Director, Joseph Daher, “From the initial capital which was SR 500,000 or about US$133,000 in 1972 the capitalization was increased twice to bring it to the present level of SR 100 million or US$26.6 million,”

He adds that today, Almabani is engaged in complex turnkey EPC projects worth several billion dollars and can rely on a long history of broad and diverse experience to see these projects through, “With the constant support and dedication of an experienced team of engineers and personnel, Almabani is participating in internationally recognized Mega projects such as the Riyadh metro project.”

Almabani oversees its projects carried out all over Saudi Arabia and the rest of the middle East from its headquarters in Jeddah. RIYADH METRO NETWORK Heavily involved in this major project Almabani have been

given an awesome project, the consequences of which, when successfully completed, will be felt by thousands of businesses for many decades. While the BACS consortium is responsible for the design and build of Lines 1 and 2 of the Riyadh metro network which will form part of the six-line metro system that will run for a total length of 176 kilometres across the city and includes 85 stations.

“Our scope of work on Lines 1 and 2 encompasses detailed structural, architectural and transit system design together with construction, testing and commissioning works,” Daher tells us, “Our scope also includes the procurement of all products and materials necessary to support project delivery.”

Fully responsible for the design and integration of the transit systems and the civil infrastructure. Working from the Employers Requirements, the BACS consortium will manufacture, furnish, install, test and commission all components related to both the transit systems and the civil infrastructure.

Line 1 will stretch from north to south through the centre of Riyadh, along the Olaya-Batha corridor, covering 38 kilometres. The line will include 22 stations and 4 transfer stations where it will connect with other new metro lines. Much of Line 1 will be underground.

Line 2 will run east to west along King Abdullah Road and will be built mostly at grade (15km) with some elevated sections. This line will run east to west and will extend more than 25 kilometres with 13 stations and 3 transfer stations
