Webcomics are comics that are published on the internet, often as strips. Sometimes they are compiled and published into collected editions. Ask your patrons if theyre reading webcomics! 8MANGA!

Manga are Japanese comics. Manga is a style/category, not a genre (much like regular comics encompass many genres).

Manga have become very popular in international markets, including the United States, and usually read right to left, even when they are translated to English.

Manga are published in serialized form, just like trades or collected editions of regular comics. Each manga book is a chapter. MAKE SURE you keep up with the books. If you miss one in the series, youre missing a chapter in the story, and you will frustrate your patrons. If a chapter goes missing, try to replace it as soon as possible because manga series often go out of print soon after the publication of the last volume.

It may be difficult to find manga (especially replacements) from your vendor. You might try amazon or another used books site, especially if the volume youre looking for is out of print.

YOU MUST be careful when youre cataloging manga. All of the manga books in one series will have the same title, the only difference will be the number. For example, Black Butler 4 is pictured above. The next book in the series will be Black Butler 5. Black Butler 6, etc. Make sure your title field reflects the volume number, or your patrons might request one volume and get totally different.
