Alloptic edge 200 Chassis
Carrier grade chassis and electronics 19” rack mounting with front accessed connectivity Voice (TDM, VOIP) Video (IP, RF) Ultra hi-speed Ethernet with VLAN & QoS Internal full rate aggregation switch Built in DXC functionality 2 PONS for up to 64 ONUs Up to 2GBPS upstream network interfaces Comprehensive testing & management Compatible with all Alloptic ONU models
The Alloptic edge 200 is the head-end controller for the Alloptic access system. It is a 16 gigabit Ethernet switch, a 2 PON OLT, and a TDM cross connect combined into a 2RU hardened package. All voice, data and video services are connected to the edge 200 which then forwards them through a PON fiber to the appropriate ONU service port at the subscriber’s location. The edge 200 is compatible to all Alloptic ONUs and is manages software and configuration information for the whole network as well as supporting network management and system timing functions.

Voice Gateways
Alloptic systems carry telephony services from the head-end to a subscriber using a high quality TDM over Ethernet mechanism. Traditional interfaces are provided on the Alloptic system If specialized TDM services are required, then specific gateway devices adapt to the unique service to the traditional interface used in the system.
Centralized equipment for management Multiple voice technologies can be deployed in one system Evolves as the market demands Reduce development time, use best-of-breed telephony products

Alloptic : home Node
Alloptic video products convert optical RF signals to coax CATV signals that can be distributed in single family home using standard CATV splitters and amplifiers. They can be used stand-alone, or be used in conjunction with all Alloptic home ONUs. Receive only and transceiver with return path versions are available. The 3 rd lambda receivers can share the same fiber used to operate the Alloptic ONU to further reduce fiber infrastructure expense.

Why EPON
Transports user traffic in native format no fragmentation or encapsulation that can add latency in the network- (very important in
IPTV)
Global convergence to IP VOIP, IP Video, IP Data services IP/Ethernet is far more efficient than IP/ATM Takes advantage of powerful [IP/Ethernet] features
TOS/VLAN, IGMP + snooping, etc.
Ethernet simplicity / flexibility Best Bandwidth/$ with promising Ethernet curve QOS capable Ethernet Switches are here today! Multiple vendor chipsets have had time to mature and interoperate. Takes full advantage of Ehternet Economics and vibrant Ethernet market. 2 plus years on GPON in regards to product availability and product mature
