The ALLIED PUMPS Coalescing Plate Oil Water Separator (CPS) Package combines a moulded polyethylene, fibreglass or stainless steel chamber and high efficiency coalescing plate pack with a range of positive displacement diaphragm pumps and automatic controls to treat run off water containing free oil particles.

Allied Pumps’ CPS is an enhanced gravity separator capable of removing oils and fine solids. The unique patented plate construction and plate material serves to multiply its efficiency in comparison with other gravity based devices.

Oily water influent is either pumped or flows into the inlet chamber under gravity. The heavy solids then settle out and the 100% oil slugs rise immediately to the surface. The remaining oily water mixture flows through the plates and both the smaller oil droplets and fine solids are progressively separated. Downstream a baffle or oil dam prevents the collected oil from entering the outlet weir. Maintenance of the CPS separator is simple and can be carried out ‘in-house’.

OPERATING PARAMETERS

The Coalescing Plate Technology efficiency far exceeds that of settling tank or conventional plate separator systems. The plate packs remove oil droplets 20 microns or smaller, compared to 60 microns for conventional plate separators with 3/4” spacing and 120 microns for standard API tanks. This enables the separator to reduce effluent free oil content to levels of less than 15ppm over a wide range of influent conditions.

The Allied Pumps’ CPS is an enhanced gravity separator capable of removing oils and fine solids. Typical installations would include a large silt trap or ‘bogout’ prior to the separator to handle heavy silt loadings.

The unique patented plate construction and plate material serves to multiply its efficiency in comparison with other gravity based devices. Oily water influent is either pumped or flows into the inlet chamber under gravity. The heavy solids then settle out and the 100% oil slugs rise immediately to the surface. POLISHING FILTERS

For applications requiring a higher degree of treatment than what would be achieved through a conventional gravity based separation system, the ALLIED PUMPS Polishing Filter in conjunction with an Allied Pumps’ Coalescing Plate Separator, removes emulsified and solubilised oil and fuel in an effective and efficient manner.

The Allied Pumps’ Polishing Filter is unique in its ability to effectively capture free oil, emulsified oil and water soluble oil and fuels from water. It works in conjunction with an Allied Pumps' Coalescing Plate Separator to achieve optimum quality of water.

The filter modules are hydrophobic and have an indefinite shelf life. They will allow clean water to pass through without any effect and will only become active as water contaminated with hydrocarbon comes into contact with the filter. The hydrocarbon becomes chemically and permanently bonded to the filter, thus the filters will in essence, process storm water or clean bilge water without shortening the filter life and remain as a sentinel awaiting hydrocarbon contaminants.

• Locations where discharge to discharge sewer is not an option and alternative on-site disposal is required

• Wash water reuse systems

Allied Pumps’ Trade Waste Monitor Systems are available in both above and below ground configurations and incorporate outputs and features as required by the Trade Waste Authority.

Maximum flow depends on available head and should be confirmed by an engineer. Pumped flows can be significantly higher. Authority project approval must be obtained prior to installation.

The patented ALLIED PUMPS Grease Muncher combines the conventional underflow grease arrestor design with a special Biofilter which dramatically reduces the grease content of the discharge through microbiological activity.

The Grease Muncher is a lightweight compact grease arrestor ideally suited for installation in both existing and new developments, particularly where conventional concrete grease arrestors are not practical or desirable. They can also be used for temporary installations or where relocation at a later date may be required.

Designed in the United States, the Grease Muncher Biofilter has undergone extensive field trials in Australia and has been widely accepted by Australian Water Authorities.

MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION

Units are manufactured from a combination of polyethylene and thermal plastics for long life and maximum corrosion resistance.

Polyethylene tank greatly simplifies cleaning and reduces smells as fat and grease will not adhere to polyethylene.

APPLICATIONS

The Grease Muncher 800 is designed for small food type outlets with a fixture rating of four plumbing fixture units. For example; one kitchen sink (3 x fixture units) and one hand wash basin (1 x fixture unit). The maximum daily flow is 13259 litres and the peak instant flow rate is 28 L/min. Water Corporation Industrial Waste Approval Number AN-001-01.

PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION

Tests have shown a reduction in grease and total suspended solids of 50-90% and BOD reduction of up to 45%. Final wastewater quality is dependant on the influent quality and flow rate.

INSTALLATION

The compact size and gastight design enables the unit to be installed in a store room or plant room. The UV stabilised tank is suitable for outdoor or even roof-top installation. The Grease Muncher can also be installed below ground and light or heavy surface concrete cover slabs fitted with gas tight cast iron covers are available. Below ground installation requires concrete backfill or concrete liner.
