• Comprehensive Diagnostics andReporting. AllFusion DMV analyzes the schema’s data structure, keys,indexes, field columns and relationshipsfor violations of relational theory. The diagnostics are customizableby selecting those most important toyour organization and diagnostic resultsare conveniently organized by categoryor severity level.

• Design Discrepancy Isolation.AllFusion DMV provides detailed reportsthat can help increase productivity byaccelerating the review process. Itsinnovative “Show Me” facility isolatesspecific design issues in complexdatabase models, eliminating the taskof trying manually to find a problem in a large model. Validation can also be performed on a database or amodel subset.

• Teach Me Facility. AllFusion DMVexplains the theory behind the relationalrules violations. The “Teach Me” facilityreveals the impact of design choices or modifications in light of relationaltheory. Forward engineeringoption sets for all DB targets are nowexternalized and shareable betweenmodels and/or modelers providingstandardization and reuse across theenterprise.

• ALTER Enhancements. AllFusion ERwinDM provides a new FE option to generateALTER scripts based on changes in themodel without the need to execute afull “Complete Compare”. The ALTERscript generation of AllFusion ERwinData Modeler now supports mostOracle 10g/9i features and functions,excluding those specifically associatedwith object relational functionality.

• Easy-to-Use Data Browser. WithAllFusion Saphir Option, you can easilyaccess tables, fields, relationships, dataelements, views, domains and indexeswith little proprietary knowledge of the application required. Users can traverse the meta data via the packagedapplication hierarchy or by selectingindividual tables and/or views and following the defined interrelationships.

• Powerful Search and Query Capabilities.You can quickly locate tables and fields,and take advantage of advanced searchfunctions. Users can find all tables thatcontain a particular field or all tables witha particular string of text in their name.AllFusion Saphir Option’s QBE facilityalso guides users into the complexworld of their packaged application.

• AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler Export.AllFusion Saphir Option is fullyintegrated with AllFusion ERwin DM.Using AllFusion Saphir Option users caneasily create native AllFusion ERwin DMdata models. This permits users toleverage the visualization, analysis,design and generation capabilities ofCA’s industry leading data modelingsolution.

What’s New in r7 Enhanced Database Currency andSupport. Organizations must leveragetheir critical IT investments in order tosuccessfully support the informationalrequirements of the business. Tight integration and “value add” support formultiple RDBMS’ is at the foundation ofAllFusion ERwin DM ability to optimize an organization’s analysis and designefforts. In the ongoing support of our customers‘ priorities, AllFusion ERwin DMhas delivered enhanced “out of the box”full relational support for Oracle 10g/9i.This support encompasses ForwardEngineering (FE), Reverse Engineering(RE), Complete Compare, and animproved User Interface (UI).

• Reverse Engineering Enhancements.A new Oracle script parser is includedwithin AllFusion ERwin DM to providefull parsing of the Oracle 10g/9i SQLlanguage syntax. Catalog RE (database)has been enhanced to facilitate reverseengineering of most Oracle 10g/9iphysical objects and properties, excluding those specifically associated

object create/update/deletion, and will be accessible via menu selection or by the new Impact Analysis dialogfunction in AllFusion ERwin DM. Userscan select individual model changes forreversal while fully understanding anydownstream or potentially hiddenimpacts of that reversal.

New PDF Graphics for Publication. Theinformation defined and stored in AllFusionERwin data models is a valuable resourcefor many other areas of the organization.The design and documentation of corporatedata assets need to be communicatedthroughout an IT organization and to thegeneral user community. Modelers oftenpublish their models to the web as themost efficient way to share this meta datafor review by the various stake holders. In support for the requirement to publishlarge, complex data models, AllFusionERwin DM’s Report Template Builder(RTB) now publishes model diagramsusing the choice of either bitmappedgraphics or PDF graphics.

Core Product Improvements. Today’sinformation systems and the models thatsupport them are becoming larger, morecomplex and very iterative in nature. The reliability and agility of our modelingsolutions and as well as the integrity ofthe models they produce are of theutmost importance to our customers.Improvements are consistently beingmade to ensure that we deliver higherlevels of quality with every new release.

• Live Modeling Semantics. In order toensure that we apply the rules of datamodeling in the utmost of consistencyand integrity, AllFusion ERwin DM hasupdated and improved it’s core modeling“engine” to better support the complexconstructs as used by our customers.This patented generalized data modelingengine will ensure that all aspects ofthe model are “correct” as it movesthrough the various stage of themodeling life cycle.

• UI Enhancements. In an effort tomaintain the familiar “look and feel” of our modeling products, we havemodified existing editors, dialogs, andwizards that specifically reflect Oraclephysical objects or database physicalproperties to support all Oracle 10g/9ifeatures and functions planned forFE/RE.

New and Improved Complete Compare.Data Models are only as valuable as theaccuracy with which they portray theenvironment they support. Modelers havehistorically struggled to maintain the currency of the models they create.Complete Compare has optimized theprocesses involved in maintaining modelcurrency and synchronization with theirdatabase environment. This indispensablefeature automates model and databasesynchronization (bi-directional) andallows modelers to benefit from theproactive impact analysis of change.AllFusion ERwin DM Release 7 introducesa redesigned and easier-to-use single-passComplete Compare capability.

• Streamlined Workflow. A redesignedsingle-panel wizard permits modelersto begin or end the compare process atany point, and to enter CompleteCompare parameter information in anysequence. Full Undo/Redo or the abilityto reverse any, all, or selected changesallows the user to freely investigate thereal impact of change with reduced riskand limited re-work required to backout changes. Complete CompareOption Sets and Session settings arenow shareable between modelersand/or models providing standardiza-tion and reuse throughout the process.

• Improved UI. A user-friendlyredesigned compare results dialogwhich displays color-coded compareresults in an easy-to-manage manner(separate object/property panels). This new dialog also provides the modeler with impact reporting (Word, Excel, or html), result filtering,import/export “click” selection, andtree search functions.

• Optimized Performance. “Live” processing of selected changes andreal-time updates of the results dialogto reflect applied changes provides a much more efficient and flexibleenvironment for analyzing and applyingchange. Use of this new compare“engine” for all RE functions ensuresfunctionally consistent and higher quality results through all aspects of model to model and model to database interactions.

Session Action Log with CompleteUndo/Redo Capabilities. With large and complex design and analysis efforts,the devil is in the details. Modelers areconstantly looking for efficiencies in theirdaily efforts in order meet demandingproject timelines and reduce delayscaused by time consuming and costly re-work. The ability to understand theextended impact of changes to the modelin real time coupled with the capability to easily apply and reverse these changesis critical in for the optimization of anymodeler’s efforts. The AllFusion ERwin DMis committed to increasing a modeler’sefficiency with the over-all goal of reducingcosts and increasing model quality.

• New Action Log Dialog. A new sessionlog dialog has been surfaced to the userallowing them to see their modelingefforts organized into an in-depth andexpandable session log. Through thislog, users can see their changes to themodel as well as the extended impactof these changes to related modelobjects and their properties. Users cannow fully understand the implicationsof their work in real time, significantlyreducing the need for downstreamproblem diagnosis and expensive re-work that can put projects and their timelines in jeopardy.

• Full and Flexible Undo/Redo. AllFusionERwin DM now provides full undo/redocapabilities throughout a modeling session. This exciting new functionalitywill apply to all aspects of modelingtasks including layout changes and

that would have previously required acompletely new build of our softwarecan now be delivered through these un-compiled templates without any un-install /reinstall being required. • Externalized Database SupportTemplates. To deal with the accelerateddelivery of forward engineeringimprovements in the platforms we support, AllFusion ERwin DM now provides externalized DB SupportTemplates that can be easily updatedand delivered to our customers whileminimizing the impact on their computing infrastructure.
