Greetings Allen Edmonds Friends,

This year, Allen Edmonds celebrates its 90th anniversary. From its humble 1922 beginning in Belgium, Wisconsin, this company has withstood the Great Depression, World War II, the social upheaval of the 1960s, the leisure suit and disco insanities of the 1970s, the demise or mass offshore exodus of almost all other U.S. shoe manufacturers, a 1984 plant fire that destroyed our production capacity, the “casualization” of American business dress in the go-go 1990s, the ensuing grunge weekend trends in the 2000s, the Financial Crisis of 2008 and the Great Recession. In any industry, a 90th Anniversary is a rare achievement. As a U.S. manufacturer in the shoe industry, it’s downright remarkable.

Along the way, Allen Edmonds’ workers have enjoyed a great many accomplishments together. AE made standard-issue Army boots and dress uniform shoes for our fighting men in World War II. As each new President from Reagan through Bush II raised his right hand for the Oath of Office, our calfskin Park Avenues were on his feet. President Obama also wears our shoes to Affairs of State, as does the Prime Minister of Canada and other governmental leaders. Business leaders in corner offices all around the country and internationally swear by Allen Edmonds quality and value. We’ve made shoes for several Hollywood movies like Titanic, Road to Perdition, The Legend of Bagger Vance and the Ocean’s Trilogy. And we’re the shoe of choice for professional athletes, musicians, authors and actors known all over the world. Most gratifying to the current stewards of this great company are the 500 U.S. employees (100 more than at the beginning of 2010) whose livelihoods are sustained by this business success.

A new milestone will be reached in 2012 – the first Allen Edmonds store will open in China under our new license agreement with an experienced Chinese retailer. Yes, the tables are turned and Allen Edmonds will be exporting Made in USA products for sale to consumers in Shanghai and Beijing.

But what really keeps us going are leaders in all walks of life across North America: successful yet humble men who really make this world work, extend their hands in friendship, volunteer in their communities and take care of their families.

For these men, we have a lot of new ideas in the pages of this catalog. International fashions continue to favor authentic American styling – brogue wingtips, a wider variety of classic calfskin leather colors, rugged cowhide looks that evoke the American West, unconstructed/unlined shoes that combine vintage styles with younger accents and comfort, the elegance of shell cordovan, sophisticated finishings that “pop” like never before, and a much more flexible customization program to allow you to “have it your way”. Plus, in honor of our Anniversary, the re-introduction of the Broadstreet spectator style and a replica of our WWII Army boot will be available for fall delivery – two shoes that helped define Allen Edmonds over the decades.

To you and, very possibly, also your fathers, grandfathers, uncles, friends, bosses and mentors, we extend our deepest thanks for your loyal support of 90 years of Great American Shoemaking.

CONSTRUCTION

The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection are born of American style and have been made in the USA since 1922 using the finest quality leathers. The collection consists of both lace-up and slip-on dress shoes made with all-natural materials for increased breathability. For 90 years, these shoes have appealed to men of all walks of life, including U.S. presidents, international dignitaries, business executives and celebrities.

At Allen Edmonds, we’re committed to delivering superior fit and comfort. Because we manufacture our shoes at our company-owned facilities, we can offer them in a broad range of lengths and widths. Many professional athletes wear our shoes because we can accommodate their uniquely large shoe sizes. See our size charts on page 57.

FEATURES

The Allen Edmonds Classic Collection provides the shoes a man needs for his daily professional wardrobe. In 2011 we introduced the Independence Collection, which features the finest aged calfskin leather for an ultra-soft feel, with special attention paid to the details. These shoes are named after the signers of the Declaration of Independence to reflect their American heritage. You’ll also find a selection of other new styles throughout the Classic Collection that are perfect for filling out your wardrobe.

The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection* have been constructed by hand using our famous 212-step 360° Goodyear welt construction process. There are

many types and qualities of leather available, but we proudly source only the finest quality leathers. Allen Edmonds

calfskin leather has tighter pores than most competitive leathers. Thus, the shoes hold a shine better and are more durable. A layer of cork under the insole forms

to your foot over time, providing a custom, orthotic-like fit. The more you wear your

Allen Edmonds shoes, the better they form to your feet. We call this “custom cork comfort.”

Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world, and we perform all Recrafting®

services in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility where many of our

Classic shoes were first handcrafted. We recrafted roughly 60,000 pairs of shoes in 2011. To learn more

This past fall, we introduced the Independence Collection, an ultra-premium line of shoes for executives and professional men. The shoes are flawlessly built with 360° Goodyear welt construction and full-grain, double aged calfskin leather for an extraordinarily supple feel. The two-toned sole features an all-leather heel base, brass nails on the heel and a brass nameplate with vintage Allen Edmonds logo script. The line is made in the U.S.A. and represents one of the finest collections from Allen Edmonds, aptly named after the signers of the Declaration of Independence. All styles in the Independence Collection are eligible for our exclusive Recrafting® service.

The styles in this section are all lace-up bluchers and balmorals with leather soles. These shoes are perfect for the executive whose attire requires dressier, more business appropriate styles for the office or professional meetings. New additions to the 2012 line are the Larchmont, a Five-eyelet long wing blucher; the Flatiron, a three-eyelet blucher with decorative toe medallion; and The Broadstreet, a gorgeous, special edition 90th Anniversary shoe in a six-eyelet wing-tip balmoral pattern with perfing, pinking and toe medallion.

For increased durability, functionality and comfort, we offer dress lace-ups with rubber soles. The recently introduced Madison Ave, an addition to the line in 2011, is a cap toe blucher with rice perfing detail. New for 2012 is a more flexible production plan allowing most of the classic Allen Edmonds shoes with leather soles to be available with rubber soles by request.

Enjoy the comfort of orthotics without sacrificing style. These shoes have removable footbeds to accommodate your own orthotics for custom comfort and a custom fit.

In 2012, Allen Edmonds signed a partnership agreement with legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. After a lifetime of rewriting the record books and walking courses around the world, Mr. Nicklaus now suffers from several foot problems that require orthotics in his shoes. Allen Edmonds is proud to partner with Mr. Nicklaus and have him wear our orthotic friendly shoes.

Just as appropriate for the office, but for the man who favors the ease and convenience of slip-ons, our monk straps, tasseled slip-ons and penny loafers with leather soles are great for busy travelers and men on the go. New leather-soled slip-ons include the Neumora double monk strap, which is similar to the original mora monk strap but on the new 333 last; The Jermyn cap toe tassled slip-on; and the Woodstock handsewn slip-on with double kiltie and braided lacing tied in a bow.

Calfskin Care TipRegular polishing of your calfskin shoes will extend the life of your shoes for years of wear. Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine. And as always, use cedar shoe trees to absorb moisture and maintain the shape of your shoes.

Big & Tall Product OfferingsAllen Edmonds has always been regarded for offering a wide range of sizes and widths to fit virtually any foot, making us a highly sought after shoe brand by professional athletes. In addition to our large size and width offering, our shoes are constructed on a number of different lasts. Each last has slightly different shapes, which lead to differing fit characteristics so it’s easy for a man to find a last that fits his specific foot shape for everlasting comfort. By referencing the shoe size charts on page 61, you can see which charts offer shoes in larger sizes (14, 15 and 16) and widths (E and EEE). In addition, we offer a wide range of belt sizes and several of our belts are available as special orders in larger sizes (46-60). In 2012, Allen Edmonds became the official shoe of the National Basketball Coaches Association. These gentlemen often require longer and wider shoes, making Allen Edmonds the perfect partner.

Many people mistake cordovan as a color, but it is actually a rare kind of leather. Our cordovan leather is sourced from Horween, a Chicago-based tannery established in 1905 and one of the last remaining – and arguably one of the finest – cordovan tanneries in the world. Cordovan is especially popular throughout Europe where men don a pair of cordovan shoes, not just for work, but also as their Sunday best “church shoes.”

Cordovan Care TipCordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather’s quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

The Allen Edmonds Casual Collection offers a broad range of styles to fit every lifestyle. Plus, the slip-on styles make traveling through airport security that much easier.

Several different lasts are used in the collection to give our shoes distinctive shapes and silhouettes for varying looks. And like our Classic Collection, they are available in a broad range of sizes. Many of the styles in the Casual Collection incorporate all-weather rubber soles for added comfort and durability.

Available soles are listed next to each shoe and can be viewed on page 55 of the catalog.

FEATURES

Along with our Goodyear welted casual shoes, many of our casual shoes are handsewns. Skilled artisans sew the vamp to the upper and the kicker by hand,

ensuring the two pieces of leather are aligned and sewn correctly to create the perfect fit. This process

takes more time and requires more effort, but it’s the right way to make a handsewn

shoe, so that’s how we do it at Allen Edmonds.

The handsewns featured in the Casual Collection use a tubular moc construction.

This technique allows the lower leather to be pulled up around the last and stitched to the

upper leather, resulting in an extremely comfortable and flexible shoe.

As with other Allen Edmonds shoes, we proudly source only the finest quality leathers.

The Allen Edmonds calfskin leather used in this collection has tighter pores than most

competitive leathers, resulting in shoes that hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling.

Even an Allen Edmonds Man has some downtime. He enjoys it in leisurely comfort with shoes from the Allen Edmonds Casual Collection. Rubber soles, casual leathers and comfort features abound in this versatile collection. This year, we are introducing the Dornoch, a new addition to the popular Rough Collection, as well as a few brand new, more colorful additions to our casual line including the Neumok (below), a raw finished, unlined six-eyelet wing tip balmoral; and the Finch, a five-eyelet balmoral saddle with contrast stitching and exposed eyelets. Our line of casual shoes will take you from the workweek to the weekend in style.

The Allen Edmonds Rough Collection offers a new take on the classic street shoe. Made in the U.S.A., with the exception of the Yuma, most of our Rough shoes can be put through our Recrafting service. The shoes feature waxy distressed leather, double oak leather soles or rugged rubber soles, and classic American styling that is experiencing a resurrection in the men’s fashion industry. Similar to the pre-washed, “worn-in” denim trend, drying machines are used to tumble the leathers and give them a soft, distressed look. To restore the natural oils and ensure durability, we condition the leather with natural tallow and waxes. Paired with casual clothing, these styles give off a fresh, young vibe for the modern urban man.

The Allen Edmonds Boot Collection has grown considerably with a number of new options that fit any man’s personal style. From the dressy Fifth Street and Dalton boots with elegant leather soles to the more rugged-casual Cascade, Katmai and Yuma styles with durable rubber soles, you’re sure to find a pair that suits your character however you want to wear them. From the outdoors to the office, we’ve got you covered.

All of the boots in our Boot Collection are constructed with our traditional 360° Goodyear welted manufacturing process with the exception of the Yuma, which is built using a handsewn process. With 212 steps involved in Goodyear welting, not a detail is missed or a stitch overlooked. This process leads to boots that are extremely durable and can be put through our exclusive Recrafting® process when they show signs of wear.

Our boot collection for 2012 includes the Fifth Street, Dalton, Cascade, Yuma, Katmai, Malvern, Ashbury, Amok and the Dalton, a wingtip blucher with brass grommets and orange leather lining.

The Cascade has been reintroduced back into the casual boot line with an updated pattern. New in 2012 is the Amok; a two-eyelet split reverse chukka boot, unlined in various suede colors.

The Allen Edmonds Belt Collection features a range of styles from dress to casual to complement any look in your wardrobe. And our belts are hand-finished to coordinate with the unique palette of colors used in our line of shoes.

We receive many customer questions about belt fashion, so we thought we’d offer our expertise.

To maintain a professional appearance, men should always wear a genuine leather belt to the office.

Every man should have at least two belts in his collection: a basic black leather belt and a basic brown leather belt. A black belt should be worn with black shoes and a brown belt paired with brown shoes. Under no circumstances should a brown belt be paired with black shoes, or vice versa.

To look even more fashionable, belt colors and patterns should coordinate with shoe colors and patterns. To determine belt size, simply go up one or two sizes from the waist size of your pants. The tail of the belt should easily pass through the first belt loop on your pants, but it should not extend too far past the belt loop.

Allen Edmonds shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to like-new condition with our exclusive Recrafting process. Recrafting is far more than simple shoe repair. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up. With six packages to choose from, Recrafting is the perfect way to give new life to old shoes.

All of the styles in our Italian Collection can now go through our exclusive Recrafting service. Due to the construction methods and materials used, some modifications are required in the Recrafting of Italian shoes.

RECRAFTING

Prestige Package – Our Prestige Package is a complete restoration. We begin by replacing soles, heels, welting, cork footbeds and laces. Next, we completely refinish the uppers, hand-polishing the leather to a vibrant glow. Finally, we add aromatic cedar shoe trees, place shoes in protective shoe bags and include a Premium Polish. The results are nothing short of remarkable.757 Prestige Package

New Heels – Even in our most basic Recrafting process, minute details matter. After removing worn heels, we replace them with new leather heel bases and Allen Edmonds rubber top lifts.* Next, we trim the heels, and ink and burnish the edges before returning the shoes with this small, but significant, improvement.750 New Heels (New soles are not included.) * This process is not available for full rubber sole/heel shoes.

Refinishing – With Refinishing, we demonstrate the enduring quality of Allen Edmonds leather in our ability to reinstate its former brilliance. Built-up layers of wax, polish and dye are stripped away. The original color is restored and protective finishes are applied. Finally, we wax and polish shoes to a high shine.751 Refinishing (New soles are not included.) 758 Casual Comfort Collection® Refinishing Package (Includes new removable

Standard Package – Standard Recrafting is identical to our Prestige Package. Shoes are completely refurbished and the results are equally impressive. Here we simply omit the cedar shoe trees, flannel shoe bags and Premium Polish. 752 Standard Package

New Heels + Refinishing Package – The New Heels + Refinishing Package combines two of our most popular Recrafting services. Just select the option for “Golf Conversion” on the Recrafting form, send in your shoes for Recrafting, and we’ll add spikes to the sole. Prior work on Allen Edmonds shoes by other cobblers may prevent us from Recrafting a pair of shoes. Due to special construction methods, our driving moccasins, Casual Comfort Collection®, ae by Allen Edmonds Collection and some handsewn and woven styles cannot be Recrafted. Obsolete Vibram® or rubber soles will be replaced with current soles. To properly preserve their unique materials, suede and nubuck shoes will be cleaned rather than refinished. 444 Last Similar to the 4 last, the 444 last has a slightly squared toe and lays flatter in the toe area; a great fit for the average foot.

In addition to our large size and width offering, our shoes are constructed on a number of different lasts. Each last has slightly different shapes, which lead to differing fit characteristics so it’s easy for a man to find a last that fits his specific foot shape for everlasting comfort. By referencing the shoe size charts on page 61, you can see which charts offer shoes in larger sizes (14, 15 and 16) and widths (E, EE and EEE). In addition, we offer a wide range of belt sizes and several of our belts are available as special orders in larger sizes (46-60). In 2012, Allen Edmonds became the official shoe of the National Basketball Coaches Association. These gentlemen often require longer and wider shoes, making Allen Edmonds the perfect partner.
