From the Pastor’s Desk

Easter Blessings! May joy and peace fill our hearts as we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord this Easter. Despite our not being able to gather at our parish church of Mother of Sorrows to celebrate the Easter Mass, may we be one in our faith in the Risen Lord. In the spirit of that Faith we are united as one family in Christ wherever we are this Easter. United in faith and our shared prayer we celebrate, by our baptism, the new life Christ has gained for us by His life, death and resurrection. As we personally renew our baptismal promises this Easter, may it be a heartfelt loving response to God’s calling us to holiness and the fullness of life now and forever in all times, places or where life’s circumstances find us. Amen. Alleluia!

Let us pray... O God, who on this day,

through Your Only Begotten Son, have conquered death

and unlocked for us the path to eternity, grant, we pray, that we

who keep the solemnity of the Lord's Resurrection

may, through the renewal brought by Your Spirit,

rise up in the light of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your

Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect, Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord, Roman Missal, 3rd Edition

As announced we are now on YouTube thanks to our parishioer, AJ Stokes and technical advisor Chris Baldwin. Please go to our parish Website: motherofsorrowspeninsuala.org for Mass times. YouTube site is Mother of Sorrows Peninsula Ohio.

May we continue to be attentive to each other. As we continue to pray for each other, let us pray also for those most in need and reach out to them as best we can. Our diocese is livestreaming a Mass daily at 9:30am on the diocesan website, and the weekend TV Mass is available on the diocesan website at 4 p.m. on Saturday. It can also be seen on Fox 8 WJW at 6 a.m. on Sunday. Those with Cox Cable can view the Mass at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on channel 45. Finally, though we are not able to worship at Mass together … mailing in your offering envelopes is truly appreciated! Stay well and be safe.

We are not alone … the Lord is with us!

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Pope’s Intention for April Freedom from Addiction

Family Perspective Wrapped in grief, the family of Jesus went to the tomb to anoint His body. They saw only death until two strangers announced His resurrection. Like the strangers, we are called to be “Alleluia” people who affirm life to others. The resurrection bids us to bring light to darkness, hope to the despairing and comfort to the sorrowful. Alleluia! He is risen! The Demkee Family Scholarship Fund of the Catholic Community Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship to a student enrolled at the University of Akron or satellite. Applicants must be a parishioner at a Catholic parish in Wayne or Summit County and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Scholarship applications are available online at: www.catholiccommunity.org/grants or call toll free at 800-869-6525 x4080. Due by May 1st.
