Dear Sponsor,
On behalf of Jim and Tom Wagner, owners of Allegheny Records Destruction and Title Sponsor, we invite you to the inaugural Allegheny Records Destruction Invitational Golf Classic. The tournament will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the prestigious Willowbrook Country Club in Apollo PA. At the request of the Wagner Brothers, this event will benefit Azalea Charities. Allegheny works closely with Azalea Charities to address special needs of Veterans in the Pittsburgh area.
This year’s event will support Dan Hika, a Navy Veteran from New Kensington who is a quadriplegic as a result of a 2012 swimming accident. Recently, with the help of Allegheny Records Destruction and other local businesses, we helped to build a first floor bedroom for Dan. This allowed Dan to move out of the dining room into a private area that included HVAC and a mounted TV. Dan still suffers from leg complications which require transport to the VA in Ohio. Your support of this event will help to equip a van for Dan’s unique transportation needs.
Tournament proceeds will also support Be the Light, a local non-profit whose mission is to reduce human trafficking by tangibly empowering communities with education, tools and resources. They focus on education, prevention, survivor support, and ending the demand. We look forward to assisting Be the Light with financial needs as well as other related programs.
Act today and make a difference. All you have to do is fill out the enclosed sponsorship form and mail it back to us. Because of the coordination involved in planning this event, we need your response as early as possible, but no later than June 1, 2019. If you have questions, contact Frank Lasch at (703) 670-5238 / [email protected] or Jim Burgman at (910) 612-1415 / [email protected].
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you on July 29th.
Sincerely,
Frank E. Lasch, Sr. Chairman

Be the Light has reduced human trafficking by empowering communities with education, tools, and resources since 2013. They are a 501c3 non-profit and a community of volunteers (aka: light-keepers) across the U.S, providing tangible solu-tions to trafficking through a 3 strategy approach.
Education and Prevention - Knowing about this crime is only the first step to preventing and eliminating it. Be the Light offers custom curricula for a variety of audiences.
Survivor Support - Trafficking victims have only a 1-2% chance of rescue. Be the Light supports local survivors and collaborates with a community of agencies for the shelter and rehabilitation process.
End the Demand - Labor and sex trafficking are in high demand. Be the Light believes in the Equality Model to decriminalize those being trafficked and provide support services for them to exit the life and create an extensive criminal offense for those buying children, women, and men for sex.
Azalea Charities is made up of volunteers who donate their time and talents because they believe in the mission of Azalea Charities. Beyond minimal expenses, all the funds we raise go to charitable causes.
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we work with a volunteer board, 11 officers and dedicat-ed members within our local communities and around the world. Many of our directors and members are retired from the military, which explains our international commitment to Aid for Wounded Warriors. Azalea Charities is based in Prince William County, VA.
Helping worthy causes in the Pittsburgh area
The idea for Azalea Charities originated with Frank Lasch and Larry Pergerson, who organized a telethon in 1997 to benefit the Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, local homeless shelters and other community groups. In June 2004, Azalea Charities began Aid for Wounded Warriors. This effort has gained worldwide at-tention through international contributors and cooperation with charitable organizations in other countries.
In 2016, Allegheny Paper Shredders teamed up with Azalea Charities to donate five specially designed wheelchairs for the University of Pittsburgh Veterans basketball program. Since then, they have worked together with Pitts-burgh contractors to build an accessible bed-room for Veteran quadriplegic Dan Hika. Azalea Charities has also donated a special wheelchair to a disabled Veteran in Rochester Township, Pennsylvania.

We need your help...to aid our wounded warriors and support community causes
Meeting the needs of Veterans and their families
Our financial support helps fill the gaps not provid-ed by the VA or the Department of Defense. Many wounded veterans need financial aid with rent/mortgages, utilities, food, car payments, and other needs. We work with the US military, VA and part-ners to meet the needs of our veterans and their families by lifting their spirits and enhancing mo-rale as well as affecting a lifetime support program.
Equipping a handicap van for injured Veteran Dan Hika
When Navy Veteran Dan Hika dove into his swimming pool in the summer of 2012, he never dreamed he would injure his spinal cord and surface into the life of a C5-C6 complete quadriple-gic. For the past six years, he has adjusted to a new normalcy of confinement to his bedroom, need-ing major help to go out for doctor visits. Azalea Charities’ Aid for Wounded Warriors has already partnered with Allegheny Records Destruction to build an accessible bedroom for Dan. Now we are raising funds to buy Dan a van that meets his special travel needs. The Department of Veterans Affairs will provide $30,000 to furnish adaptive equipment. We need to raise another $30,000 to purchase the van itself.
