    Dear friends,

Im writing to let you know about two important initiatives that are simultaneously

underway to build permanent tributes to our friend Senator Allan Spear and toinvite you to help make them a reality.

As you may be aware, the DFL has completely renovated and transformed itsheadquarters in St. Paul. They are now ready to install a Victory Plaza, abeautiful outdoor gathering area that will celebrate the Partys mission and historyand honor the Partys heroes.

We have reserved one of the larger 12 x 18 inch bricks in the plaza in Allansmemory. The total cost is $2,000. We already have pledges of $1,500. Any amountyou are able to add to get us to the full $2,000 would be greatly appreciated. Ifyoud like to contribute, please contact me at my email address, or by phone at

612-327-3870, or drop a check payable to Minnesota DFL in the mail to me at2910 James Ave S, Apt C, Minneapolis, MN 55408.

Second, the LGBT group Join the Impact-Twin Cities (JTI) has been working forover a year to establish an Allan Spear LGBT Equality Memorial on the colonnadein Mueller Park, in the Wedge neighborhood, just one block from Allan and hispartner Junjiro Tsujis home. This spring, they succeeded in obtaining Minneapolis

Park Board approval for the project. Phase I will be installation of acommemorative plaque, and a second phase will provide for landscaping andstewardship. You can read more about this wonderful tribute in the SouthwestJournal article at http://bit.ly/Qpe66n. It is important for all of us, and particularlyfor gay kids today and in the future, to have a sense of connectedness with thosewho have gone before us. We can help build that legacy in the Twin Cities throughthis memorial that will allow Allan Spears name and contributions to live on.
