As I reflect, we do have a vibrant community here at All Saints’ Junior School, and in this season of Pentecost it is worth remembering that God’s Spirit needs to be acknowledged and encouraged. I draw our attention to the phrase in 2 Timothy1: 6,7: ‘God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline. May we rekindle the gift of God within us.’ This verse I have given to our year 5 and 6 students to commit to memory. Under 11s - Saturday 26th May

It was a real winter’s morning – foggy and lowering clouds – as the girls took to the grass field on Saturday, and the weather deteriorated from there to drizzly rain. However, the girls were not deterred and played strongly, dominating much of the play and coming out victorious with a two nil win. Darcie was glad not to be in the firing line but managed to stare the opposition down should they venture near! Ella, Claire, Matilda, Claudia and Portia all took a turn as backs performing that role well. They were glad to have some play in the halves and wings to get amongst more of the action. Matilda had a great game on the wing, following the play well and, by being in correct position was ideally placed to score our first goal. She deservedly earned Player of the Match. Jakiya, being used to playing soccer on the grass, showed some great ball-handling skills, calling for and collecting the ball before passing it off to Matilda on the wing. Coach, Peter, would have been thrilled to see more of the play being directed out wide and it certainly paid off. Lucy played a pivotal role as Centre Half. Her experience and skill helped set the team up as she was able to direct play around the field. Niamh and Ailee both had a strong game with some excellent attacking play. Grace had an amazing game, having just returned from having had her tonsils out (no one would have guessed), and scoring a wonderful goal to seal the win. Our long-suffering cheer squad are to be thanked for their support. We hope they enjoyed the match as much as the girls enjoyed playing! Congratulations, girls on a great match! Mrs R. Clements

The conditions were a little trying but that certainly did not stop the girls trying their very best. I was particularly impressed with the Jellybeans who had to step up a notch or two against a very good team. They showed a lot of skill and put into practice what they have been working on in training. There were a lot of very proud spectators. Well done to all teams! Club House Duty: Gummi Bears have a duty this Saturday, June 2 Jellybeans on July 21. Draw: Saturday June 2 ASC Jellybeans Court 5 11:30 Captain Charlotte Whittaker ASC Gummi Bears Court 5 9am Captain Kate McEwen ASC Sherbets Court 14 9am Captain Grace BrabhamGabrielle DarlingtonReports on games May 26:ASC JellybeansOn Saturday 26th May the All Saints Jellybeans braved the cold and played a fantastic game against the Bulldogs Little Gems. Phoebe, Lauren, Collette and Aria had some excellent passes in the first quarter with exceptional defence by Georgie and a fantastic save by Lauren! The second quarter was very exciting with good catches by Breahna and Lucy. The girls moved down the court and managed to get free from their opponents – Phoebe passed the ball to Lauren, who passed it to Sophie, who then passed it on to Charlotte who aimed and scored the first goal! Aria had some great passes and catches and Kate had a very good quarter with excellent defence. The rest of the game was very exciting with great catches from Jorja and Collette and ended with All Saints Scoring 4 goals – 2 to Phoebe and 1 each to Sophie and Charlotte. Aria was the very well deserving player of the week. Thank you Mrs Darlington, Mrs Geyer and all the parents who supported us! Lucy O’SullivanASC Gummi Bears Wow! What a game we had on Saturday. The conditions were freezing but the little bears rose to the occasion and played a great, fast and defensive game on the day. Maddie Sanger was our player of the week. She took on two new positions, GK and GS during the game and performed wonderfully. Megan, showed us she is a great centre with a number of intercepts and stealing of the ball. Sara and Eliza had tough jobs in defence but didn’t stop whizzing the ball down to our shooters. Lauren and Charlotte were terrific with their shooting on the day. Jessica and Kate worked well together in defence also shadowing their opponents and passing the ball down the court as quick as a wink. Kate Mc was amazing in GA and her passing and goal shooting never missed a beat on the day. The score during the match see-sawed right to the very end. When the whistle finally blew, the score was 8 Oberon Snow Devils to 6 All Saints Gummi Bears. A special congratulations to Tamar on her first game of netball. A very big thankyou to Mrs McEwen and Mrs Russell for coaching in sub-arctic weather and to all the Mums, Dads, Grandparents and brothers and sisters who came to watch our game. Kate Dowd ASC SherbetsThe girls had an extremely cold start at the netball courts on Saturday morning. With three of our team members away or sick we had no subs. During the third quarter Emma Russell hit the deck but fought on, getting back up and playing on. The Sherbets unfortunately lost 30 to 10 against the Gems. Well done to the Sherbets on Saturday and remember, Never quit because if you quit it becomes a habit. Player of the match Grace Brabham was awesome. Claire Eagar

Under 9 Wallabies Report 19th May

Although the weather was nowhere near as pleasant as last week, the icy rain had stopped by the time the Wallabies took to the park. Churches United came out firing and scored an early goal but that was the only chance the Wallabies gave them. Excellent positional play, especially in defense, enabled All Saints’ to dominate in all areas of the ground. The Wallabies converted two of their many scoring shots and the final score of Wallabies 2 to Churches 1 was not a clear indication of how dominant the Wallabies were. The Player of The Week medal was awarded to Jack Tribolet for his excellent work in defense.

Soccer Draw: Saturday, 2nd June

8 YEARS EMUSIt was a nasty change in weather and a very good Eglington team that greeted the All Saints Elders Under 8 Emus on Saturday morning. A high quality and even game commenced with Eglington getting the jump by half time with some beautiful positional play. After the break the Emus set about catching up with some of the best passing and teamwork seen this season to level the scores by the end of the game. A great result for both teams and those who braved the cold to watch. Josh Dallimore was player of the week and impressed with some strong runs from the back which resulted in good attacking raids and goals upfront. Well done Josh and all the Emus who are having a terrific season.

7 YEARS DINGOES

A v e r y b i t t e r d a y weatherwise was made sweet by a 2 all result i n t h i s g a m e . T h e mighty Dingoes were much improved in both attacking play and defence with many goal-scoring opportunites coming our way. Congratulations to Todd Nelson for receiving Player of the Match and the precious Medal of Honour. Todd was at the centre of the action thoughout the game and made some decisive tackles. He also showed developing skills in controlling and passing the ball. Well done to all the Dingoes for a very exciting and much improved match.Mr Hines (Coach)

6 YEARS MAGPIESWith the blue skies gone the low single digit temperature tested the parents even more so than the kids for this game against the Possums. They proved hard to find with some whispers suggesting that they were quite wisely still snuggled up in their nests. A quorum was found, and with a few Magpies changing sides the game began in earnest. Cooper played his usual strong game and had his skills tested by the other team in both defence and attack. Both Lucas and Joshua played on both teams and also were fearless in their tackles and surged to goal at every opportunity. Angus was as cheery as ever and ran all day despite a nagging cough that he would not allow to keep him in bed and miss a second weekend of his sport. The matchup that still has the sportswriters talking was between David and Ben. For the first time the twins were playing on opposing teams and despite initial reluctance they both rose to the occasion and tackled each other with glee with David deservedly winning the player of the week medal. Thanks to all the players who happily helped out the Possums so we could have such an even fun game.
