The idea is to provide a specific time and place of space and security between 10am and 3pm where we can fast either by giving up food or giving up the time we would normally be spending on other pursuits to come before God to seek and be fed by Him. This will not just be a time of solitude and quiet reflection, although that will be available; but rather I am hoping through creative activities, reflection and discussion we will be able to discern what God is saying to us both as individuals and as a fellowship.

ALL SAINTS DAY(S) OF FASTING AND SEEKING GOD’S WILL FOR THE FUTUREDear fellow pilgrim,As part of the ongoing search for God’s will for the future of All Saints Church, I am offering the opportunity for as many members and those associated with All Saints to come together on Saturday the 4th March and/or Saturday 18th March to share in a time of fasting and seeking God through his word. The idea is to provide a specific time and place of space and security between 10am and 3pm where we can fast either by giving up food or giving up the time we would normally be spending on other pursuits to come before God to seek and be fed by Him.This will not just be a time of solitude and quiet reflection, although that will be available; but rather I am hoping through creative activities, reflection and discussion we will be able to discern what God is saying to us both as individuals and as a fellowship.I shall be there for the whole time during the 2 days and you are very welcome to join me and hopefully many others for all or part of that time.As a basis for our time of fasting we will be reflecting on 2 scriptures (the wording changes slightly depending on which translation you use but the essence is the same)

Isaiah 57:15 I am the high and holy God, who lives forever. I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are humble and repentant, so that I can restore their confidence and hope

Philippians 2:13 ....for it is God who works in you to will and act according to his good purposesI hope you be able to set aside these dates to meet with our amazing God and experience the Holy Spirit minister in our lives in perhaps a new and exciting way, or in a refreshing way, as we continue our pilgrim walk with Jesus.

God blessPeter Mackie

REROOFING MORRIS - We have just completed the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) process of putting out to competitive tender and selecting, the supervising conservation architect, for the roof recovering project. 12 architectural practices across 3 neighbouring counties expressed an initial interest, these were reduced to a shortlist of 4, who were asked to submit tenders and then invited to interview. This included asking them to make a presentation about particular aspects of their work, making an interesting use of the new projector and screen. The interview panel was made up of the two Churchwardens; David Thompson and Ben Smith the Diocesan Historic Churches Adviser. The successful architect was Bryan Martin, who has already been our church architect for the last 2 years. He has much experience of renewing and repairing church roofs and in making successful HLF applications, for example he is currently supervising the recovering of the Cropredy church roof. Bryan will be helping us to construct our application for a grant and if we are successful, supervising the work; a process which will stretch over the next 2 to 3 years. We as the church community will have much to do; we will need to raise more money in addition to any HLF grant from a wide range of sources, as the current cost estimate is £377k.We will also need to get more people and a wider range of people, to engage with the heritage

SPRINGTIME IN MIDDLETON   May is a lovely month for walking round the village admiring other people's front gardens, and thinking how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful area.  It's also the month for Christian Aid Week, when for the last 25 years we've done a house-to-house collection and raised over £33,000 to help people who don't have the good fortune to live in such favourable circumstances. This year Christian Aid's appeal is especially for people across the world that have been forced to leave their homes, with no safe place to go to. It isn't always popular; some people don't like answering the door, some people would rather give to other charities, and very few people like knocking on doors and asking for money.  But it's worth it, because last year Middleton Cheney raised £3,581 in just the one week. We're preparing early this year, because the village has grown.a lot. 25 years ago we had 40 collectors; many of them are still cheerfully collecting. But some are no longer able to, some have moved away, and some have died. Last year there were 32 collectors - not quite enough to cover every street in our rapidly expanding village. It would be great if a few more people could join us, so that we might be able to collect from every street without anyone being asked to do too much. Please spare a minute to ask yourself if you can possibly spare an hour or so during the week May 14th - 20th. If you can do even part of a street near you it would be an enormous help. If you can, please see or phone Chris Wells (710076) or Sue Hunter (712265). Many thanks!
