The Diocese of Austin will host a series of

webinars in Spanish to explore how technolo-

gy can enrich ministry. Webinars will provide

Summer faith classes offered online

Throughout the summer, the diocesan

Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is

offering a variety of courses to serve the

needs of Catholic school educators, parish

catechists, youth ministers and anyone who

wants to learn more about their faith. Top-

ics range from Sacramental Theology to

Ecumenism to Christian Leadership.

Courses feature instruction by experienced

trainers and include printed materials and

books for students. All courses will be held

mandate, and government orders that force them to participate in harmful

procedures.

Pray: That people of all faiths would be free to worship without fear of at-

tacks and harassment.

Reflect: Gunmen in churches, synagogues, and mosques terrorize faith com-

munities and they are attacks and assaults on the image of God and will not

be tolerated.

Act: Pray a decade of the rosary, fast, or spend time before the Lord in the

Blessed Sacrament, offering up your sacrifice in reparation for sins against

human dignity. Support funding for the FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant

Program. This program provides grants to nonprofits, including houses of

worship, to improve security. Contact your Representative and Senators

today!.

Pray: that children waiting to be placed in a loving home and the caregivers

who selflessly serve those children will find strength and support from the

Church.

Reflect: Caring for ‘the orphan’ is a demand of the gospel. Faith-based child

welfare providers are being targeted for closures because of their religious

convictions.

Act: The Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act (CWPIA) prevents faith-

based child welfare service providers from being targeted by government

discrimination. Contact your U.S. Senators and Representative, ask to co-

sponsor and support the federal Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act!

June 26, 2020 - Border Wall Dispute in the Diocese of Brownsville

Pray: that the freedom of the local churches on the U.S. southern border will

be respected.

Reflect: Efforts to construct a barrier on the southern border have met re-

sistance from the Catholic Church in Brownsville. The barrier would run

through land owned by the Diocese, and so the federal government would

have to take the land in order to build the wall or fence.

Act: Support the freedom of the Church. You can promote the freedom of

religion today by encouraging your Representative to protect all people of

faith and do no harm to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, RFRA,

which the Diocese is using to defend itself!

June 26, 2020 - Border Wall Dispute in the Diocese of Brownsville

In today’s Gospel, we are encouraged to be fearless in the face of opposition. We have a responsibility to contribute to the good of socie-

ty in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom. Even when others attempt to thwart our efforts to build up a just society, we must

remember that we are the Lord’s own. Even as those against us may attempt to destroy our bodies as we endeavor to develop a just

society, we must remember that because we are the Lord’s own, they will not be able to destroy our souls. We must continue to trust in

God and proclaim our faith boldly. In life, as in death, we belong to the Lord.

En el Evangelio de hoy, se nos invita a no tener miedo cuando enfrentamos oposición. Tenemos la responsabilidad de contribuir al bien

Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has found a way to unite

other. We ask for your help in calling on your Son, seeking forgiveness for the

times when we have failed to love and respect one another. We ask for your help in

obtaining from your Son the grace we need to overcome the evil of racism and to

build a just society. We ask for your help in following your Son, so that prejudice

and animosity will no longer infect our minds or hearts but will be replaced with a

love that respects the dignity of each person. Mother of the Church, the Spirit of

your Son Jesus warms our hearts: pray for us. Amen.

The social Justice and SVDP ministries have asked me to forward the follow-

ing information to all Ministry Leaders. I am asking that you please help get

the word out by passing this information on to your ministry members;

St. Vincent De Paul Main organization (Travis County) received some

funds through RISE program. This program is trying

to provide relief to folks NOT covered by the Feder-

al programs. Payments who lost wages due to covid

19. The aid is focused on people NOT helped by the

government including with out Social Security folks.

It is worth up to a few thousand dollars for lower in-

come, mid-sized families who lost work due to covid

19.
