Accordingly, in a meeting of our bank retirees from Goa and nearby centres, an Adhoc Committee was formed towards Foundation of Retirees’ Association in Goa. Adhoc Committee decided that the Foundation Conference be held in August 2015 at Panaji, Goa. Accordingly, Foundation Conference was held at Goa on 09-08-2015. Sri B.P.M.Barretto, Chairman Adhoc Committee welcomed the dignitaries and the participants to the Conference. Sri Francis Soares, Secretay, Adhoc Committee invited Sri S.V.Srinivasan, General Secretary, AICBRF to inaugurate the Foundation Conference. In his inaugural address, Sri S.V.Srinivasan traced the historical course of pensioners’ movement in general and bank retirees’ movement in particular. He also touched upon salient features of the Medical Insurance Scheme proposed to be introduced in our Bank in terms of the 10 th Bipartite Settlement & Joint Note dated 25.05.2015. General Secretary of AICBRF, besides greeting the participants also called upon each and every retiree member in the State of Goa to play his due role in enlisting more members by fostering true spirit of all cadre unity symbolised by AIBRF and strengthen Canara Bank Retirees’ Association – Goa Unit further. Sri Ajay Manjrekar, Central Committee Member of AIBEA & General Secretary of Canara Bank Employees’ Union, in his keynote address dealt with the struggles of bank employees culminating in 10 th Bipartite Settlement and explained its salient features. While greeting the participants in the Conference, he declared that CBEU would continue to back up the efforts of our Federation in advancing retirees’ cause at the bank level and extend support to AICBRF wherever possible in its onward march. Recalling the emotional bondage with the State of Goa, Sri Ajay Manjrekar wished the Goa unit to strengthen and bring laurels to AICBRF at the national level by enrolling more and more number of retired employees of our Bank to its fold in the near future.

FORMATION OF OUR 15th UNIT - - IN GOA ON 09-08-2015

With the retirement of more number of employees in the Bank in the near future, retired employees of Canara Bank residing in the State of Goa had been longing to have a separate organisation to look after their interests. Sri Subash Naik Jorge, President, Goa Bank Employees’ Association, in his brief address stressed importance and need for having an organisation for bank retirees.While greeting the participants in the Foundation Conference, he exhorted the retirees to stay united under the umbrella of AIBRF, which is the oldest and largest premier national organisation of bank retirees.

Then Sri B.Venkat Rao, our Organising Secretary from Karnataka informed the

gathering about the achievements of AICBRF & its affiliates followed by Sri B.S.A.Rao,

Organising Secretary from the State of Maharashtra recalling his initiatives and

guidance towards formation of CBRA – Goa and wished the Conference all success.

Sri M.S.Phadte, Secretary, State Committee CBEU – Goa congratulated the retirees of

Goa on formation of CBRA – Goa, extended warm greetings from the State Committee of

Goa and assured further support to CBRA – Goa in the oncoming days. Sri G.Y.Nayak,

Central Committee Member, CBOU participated in the Conference. Presence of leaders of

twin banners in our bank made the Foundation Conference graceful.

After adoption of the Rules & Bye-laws, the Foundation Conference unanimously elected

the following Office Bearers, besides 6 Committee Members, to lead Canara Bank

Retirees’ movement in the State of Goa.

Special mention must be made that out of 58 members, 48 attended the

Conference, out of which 21 were ladies.
