To help people understand the abbreviations and recommended amounts of
mineral supplements to take, the Institute of Medicine has given the following guidelines.
RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) andAI (Adequate Intake)
Amounts of minerals and vitamin needed to maintain optimum health Amounts needed to avoid any nutritional deficiencies Made specific according to genders and specific age groups
UL (Tolerable Upper Intake Level)
Maximum amounts of vitamin and mineral supplements you can consume
Consuming amounts more than this level may result in an overdose leading to potential side effects
DV (Daily Value)
The measurement found on vitamin and mineral supplements. Amount needed from a 2000 calories daily diet to maintain optimal
health. Sometimes same as the RDA
