• You can easily go to Singapore from Batam by Ferry, 50 minutes ride that costs USD 43 per person
• Singapore is one of Four Asian Tigers, along with Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea
• Singaporean considered as very rich. It has the biggest percentage of millionaires in the world. One out of six people in Singapore has 1 million dollar or more
• Although English is the official working language and the mostwidely used language in Singapore, the national anthem‘Majulah Singapura‘ is actually sung in Malay
• Sing-lish, a Singaporean patois mixing English with the oddphrase of Chinese, Malay and even Tamil, has two entries – lahand sinseh
• 37% of Singaporeans are not Singaporeans! They are foreignworkers or permanent resident from other countries
• English is the language of instruction in all public schools and all subjects are taught and examined in English
• Education takes place in three stages:- Primary education (compulsory – 6 years) - Secondary education (4 – 5 years)- Pre-university education / junior college (2 – 3 years)
