NEWSLETTER ALKIMOS BAPTIST COLLEGE
Hello Parents, Friends, Students and Teachers
Welcome to 2016. What an incredibly smooth and easy start it has been to the year. I would like to thank you, parents and students for the way you have embraced our College this year.
Firstly, welcome to our new look Newsletter. We want to share with you the amazing events and celebrations that are occurring across the entire College and therefore we will now produce one newsletter for the College. We want to emphasise the K - 12 aspect of our wonderful College.
I would love to personally invite all families to the P&F Outdoor Cinema on Friday 19
th February. The P&F would love for you to be
involved and actively engage in building community. If you would like to be involved in the P&F please contact the College Office.
The new Nature Play area is looking fantastic and will be available for students to use Week 3. I would like to thank all the families and businesses, who helped create this great space. We hope to build resilience in all our students as they learn risk and challenge in this area. We look forward to imaginative minds exploring and creating in this area.
Please find enclosed in this newsletter a number of great events we have already had in 2016 and a number of great events to come. As a College we have adopted a joyful attitude towards our school and community for 2016.
Philippians 4:4 - “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do
not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the
peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Save The Date
STRAVENS’ SPORTS SPOT
Summer Sport With the hot weather here with us for the first term, it is important that your child comes prepared for Physical Education lessons. All students will need to have a drink bottle with them each day. They are required to wear their hat to all sport lessons and ensure they are wearing the correct uniform on sport days. We will make every effort to protect your child from the heat, with longer drink breaks and rests in the shade and indoor activities in the College Hall.
Inter-School Swimming Carnival:
For the first time, Alkimos Baptist College will be entering a team in the Interschool Swimming to be held at Arena Joondalup later this term. A team of Year 3 - 6 students will be selected to represent the college in some events. If your child is interested to become Involved please see Mr Stravens in the coming weeks. If possible a copy of your child’s most recent swimming certificate would be beneficial to ensure your child is placed into an event they are capable of completing. In Term 4 we will run our Interhouse Swimming carnival at Craigie Leisure Centre. This carnival will form the base of the teams selected to compete in the 2017 Interschool Swimming Carnival.
Monday Morning Training Club: This year our primary training club will run on a Monday morning from 7:30 until 8:15am starting in week 4. All students from Year 2 - 6 are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity for students to build a greater fitness base, improve their sporting skills and start the week off with some fun and exercise. With a greater increase in our schools participation in many Interschool events this type of training will be invaluable and beneficial for our teams.
Lunchtime Sport:
This term students from Year 3 - 6 will have the opportunity to participate in a Capture the Flag tournament. Sign ups were held this week and we are looking forward to a wonderful competition. If your child did not sign up but would like to be involved, please get them to see Mr Stravens to be placed into a team.
