I am currently in my fourth year of a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, on the Kim Walker bassoon scholarship. I have been studying bassoon for 11 years, originally starting while at Summer Hill Public School. I’m a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, and have played principal bassoon with the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute. I teach from my home in Burwood, close to the Hume Highway. My focus in teaching is to have fun, develop an appreciation for making music, and to lay a strong technical groundwork. I will not commence teaching in 2017 until Week 4 of Term 1 as I will be out of Sydney before then - this is the week after the training band introductory session. I am best contacted by email until then, but will be contactable by telephone from the 6th of February. Teaching Experience Bassoon and brass tutor at Summer Hill Public School, since 2014 Lower wind and brass tutor at Summer Hill Band Workshops since 2010 Private tutor for students from schools including Fort Street, Newtown Performing Arts, and North Sydney Girls High Schools Bassoon and musicianship tutor at St Aloysius College Bassoon tutor at St Catherines Waverley Please note: I do put students through AMEB exams when desired and appropriate, but I also believe in the importance of developing strong technical groundwork, and an enjoyment of music.
