Scope of work

Design Engineering Fabrication and Erection of Steel structure.

Project Detail

The project awarded in 2011 and executed in 2011-2012, which comprise of approximately

750MT of different kind of structure which requires special designing and fabrication procedure

for maintain the Architectural & façade look of the project. Main structure provide for Roof of

Application Area consists of TRUSSES & PURLINS with straight and curved profiles. Front Side of

the project was designed in complete curve shape to show the uniqueness of the project and

special attention given to achieve the architectural look with the steel engineering.

Procedures

Based on the input data from client like Project specifications and base design alfanar

steel prepare the 3D concept of whole structures.

Project schedule prepared according to the prestart meeting with Client & Main

Contractor.

Detailed ITP Prepared based on project specifications.

Detailed design and drawings prepared by alfanar steel technical team by using modern

detailing software TEKLA.

After approving the design and shop drawings SAMPLES/MOCK UP submitted for final

approval prior to start the production.

Raw Material was procured from approved supplier list of SABIC, approvals were based

on the samples submitted to SABIC with necessary documentation like Material

Certificates, relevant standards, Products data sheets, Products safety data sheets,

COSHH assessment and Risk Analysis Matrix.




All the fabrication done in alfanar steel factory using modern Machines like CNC, Plasma

etc

Main of the fabrication process involved were drilling, cutting, punching, welding

notching, bending etc

After completing the fabrication material delivered to site item wise with all

documentation required for Material inspection.

Material accepted by client according their specifications and approved SAMPLES.

Material stored on site in specific area hand over to alfanar steel by Main Contractor

with proper safety procedures near to work area from where erection can be start easily

after assembly.

Before starting the Site activities (Assembly & Erection) pre start safety meeting

conducted with Main contractor with required documents Erection sequence and safety

procedures.

After approving the erection sequence and safety procedures SAFETY INDUCTION

carried out for all the engineers, supervisors and manpower involved in the site

activities.

Assembly done on the site with all the required tools and machinery like Tower Crane,

Mobile Crane, Fork lifter.

According to the procedures Inspection request generated by alfanar steel for prior to

installation for checking the physical location of area, civil works levels & Alignments.

Erection started after the approval came from client against IR prior to installation.

Erection activities done by alfanar steel site team with coordination with Main

contractor site team and safety department for the successful completion of the tasks.

IR raised after erection for the Inspection of Levels, alignments and torque testing for

the installed structure.

As per project specification Fire Proof Paint applied on the structure with 02 hrs fire

rating.

Inspection done by client after primer, each coat of fire proof paint and finish coat to

achieve the desired microns.

Finished structures handed over to Main client after the approvals came from Client.

Weekly site progress meeting carried out with client and Main contractor to ensure that

project is going in a smooth way, and to discuss the important activities which can hold

other work in priority basis.

The Highlights of the project is as follows with snaps:

1. TRUSSES, PURLINS, SIDE COVER WALL, FRONT WALL AND LOUVER (APPLICATION AREA)

TRUSSES Fabricated with the L-Profile of different sizes delivered to site as loose parts and

assembled there as bolted structure. Fabrication done at alfanar steel factory using the modern

CNC Machine to maintain the accurate dimensions and span of truss which was 24m long.

Erection done at site by using Tower Crane & Mobile Crane by alfanar steel skilled supervision

and manpower.

There are total 28 Nos of Steel Trusses, 14 in each Area-A & Area-B, which are connected

through the steel Purlins using the Profile IPE-270, fabricated at alfanar steel factory

2. CRANES

There are total two crane 16 & 05 Ton capacities erected in application area, the activity done

by using the boom truck according to material load and working space.

3. ROOF BRIDGES

There are total four roof bridges constructed by using the HEB profile of different sizes, which

were covered by Metal deck used as shutter for the concrete.

4. CAFETERIA WALL STRUCTURES

The structure installed with curved and straight profile for maintain the architectural shape of

cafeteria curtain wall. This is also a fire proof painted structure with 02 Hours fire rating.

7. LANDMARK STRUCTURE

Structure design to present the SABIC logo as a symbol of landmark for SPADC Project, the total

height was more than 50 meters by using HEB 260 Profile erected in splices of 12 meter height.
