There is a legend told about Alexander the Great taming a horse named Bucephalus. According to the legend, Philip of Macedon and Macedonian subjects looked on as men tried to tame a wild horse. The horse was wildly kicking its legs and tossing its head back and forth. None of the men could tame it. The king wanted to buy the horse but thought it was too wild. Alexander, 14 at the time, made a bet with his father than he could tame Bucephalus. Slowly, Alexander walked up to the horse and stroked him. Then, he mounted the horse and galloped around the field. Fourteen-year-old Alexander had tamed him!

The Phrygian megara (great houses) at the citadel of Gordium. There are four of them. The first one had interesting mosaics; the second one was the royal palace; the fourth one has been identified as the temple where Alexander the Great cut the famous Gordion knot.
