Alexander LukashenkoAlexander Lukashenko has been serving as the President of Belarus since 20 July 1994. The president of National Olympic committee of Republic of Belarus (from 1997), the commander-in-chief of Armed forces and the chairman of the board of safety of Republic of Belarus.

Early life and career

Alexander Lukashenko was born on August 30, 1954 in the village Kopys of the Orshansky region of Vitebsk area. After the birth of Alexander, his mother started working as a milkmaid.

He was brought up without the father.

In 1975 it graduated from department of history of the Mogilyov teacher training college majoring in «the teacher of history and social science», and in 1985 — in absentia economics department of the Belarusian agricultural academy as «an economist-organizer of agricultural production»

From 1975 to 1977 Lukashenko served in Border troops of KGB of the USSR.

Alexander married in 1975 with Galina Jelnerovich. Now he has 3 children and 5 grandsons.

Beginning of political career

In period of "reorganization" in 1990

it was elected the People's Deputy

of the Supreme Council of Belarus.

In April 1993 — July, 1994

Lukashenko headed the temporary

commission of the Supreme Council

on fight against corruption

On January 21, 2011 Alexander Lukashenko officially entered a position of the president of Republic of Belarus in the fourth time.

Western mass media often call Alexander «the last dictator of Europe».

Sanctions against Lukashenko

In 2006 the European Union, and then and the USA forbade it entrance on the territories. In 2008 action of a ban on entrance was suspended. In January, 2011 Poland forbade it entry into the country. In April, 2011 Council of EU prolonged till October 31, 2011 a ban on entrance to EU of president Lukashenko and 35 more officials.
