Sensuality and temperamentThe guitar is one of the less played instru-ments at the “Lucerne Festival”, not being a usual instrument of the orchestra. The numer-ous public of “Debut 2” proved that the guitar is an instrument which can be both interesting and charming. And truly: Italian Alessio Nebiolo, showed, thanks to his talent, how rich the so-norities and dynamics of this instrument can be.

The proposed programme was various, from Baroque Spanish dances to Alberto Ginastera.

From the past to the present, music with Nebiolo was palpitating, developing between tension and distension. The guitarist always managed to create a balance between his in-wardness and the vigour of his temperament, especially in the Sanz’s suite.

Modern technique The Sonata op.47 by Alberto Ginastera, was the explosive conclusion of the concert. A piece of virtuosity out of the ordinary, rich of percussions alternating to more relaxing mo-ments – interpreted in a suitable manner and without any excess - and giving the piece a charm, which was absolutely contagious. Nebiolo creates, with a constant power of con-centration, a structured interpretation display-ing the different aspects of the piece. Most im-portant, the guitarist stays in the background: music only speaks!

Good music and talent can be appreci-ated only by true connosieurs of music, say many but Alessio Nebiolo’s music was universal. There was no one there who could deny that the experience was magical... On his experience of performing at the event, this man of few words but many “notes” smiled and replied, “Fabulous”, a view which even the audience shared with him!

Corriere Adriatico 18/08/2004The Rof win the Bishop

The prelate was in the front row at guitarist Alessio Nebiolo’s performance. I was present at a high level show. A burst of applause and two encores.

The fi rst of Monsignor Piero Coccia, who showed to appreciate very much Alessio Nebiolo’s performance.

A large audience gave a warm welcome to the young artist from Alessandria, who made his debut at the ROF.The repertory included three pieces, whose extraordinary charm and refi nement were highlighted by Nebiolo’s magic guitar.

Il resto del Carlino 18/08/2004The 25th ROF is drawing to an end.A rather side show but not less enchanting appointment is the event of “Rossini Ma-nia-Usi modi capricci’’, that is Rossini seen through the sight of his fans.

“Rossini Opera Festival” Pesaro Italy

This year, the young but already successful guitarist Alessio Nebiolo has been entitled to offer an emotionally rich and technically excellent reading of a mixture from the ‘Rossiniane’ by Mauro Giuliani, contempo-rary composer and guitarist.Sensitive to the audience’s taste, Giuliani guessed that guitar could be a privileged instrument for reproducing and spreading, in a private context, Rossini’s most impor-tant pieces, successfully summarizing the specifi c guitar language and the imaginative formulas of the opera’s aria.So the ‘Rossiniane’ arose and were printed by Viennese publisher Artaria, not more than six copies, from 1822 to 1828, the year before Rossini’s exit. The collection immediately turned out as a success and became part of the reperto-ries of all XX century’s guitarists. Still today, Giuliani’s work enjoys a high reputation. This musical ‘pearl’ was mounted between the pleasant ‘’Suite Espanola’’ by Gaspar Sanz and wonderful ‘Sonata Op. 47’ by Gi-nastera, full of virtuous incursions on the fi n-gerboard together with a very refi ned use of ‘special effects’.Nebiolo’s performance was enthusiastically applauded at length and he was pleased to give two encores: a ‘Rossiniana’ and the 1st Movimento of the ‘Sonatina’ by Torroba.Among the audience, the Artistic Director of the Festival, Alberto Zedda, the curator Gianfranco Mariotti and Monsignor Pietro Coccia, archbishop in Pesaro.

The three «Lausanne guitar trio» guitarists met during their musical studies in Dagoberto Linhares’ virtuosity class at Lausanne Con-servatory.

Since their collaboration began, they have performed at several fes-tivals in Switzerland, France, Portugal and Italy; the most well-known among others are the “Septembre musical de l’Orne” in Normandy (France), the “Casa Mateus” musical meeting in Vila Real (Portugal). In Italy, they performed the “Verbania Musica Festival”, “Camogli in Musica Festival” and “Concerti all’abbazia di S. Frut-toso” (Portofi no).In November 2002, they were invited to record Filipo Gragnani’s “Trio in D Major” for Télévision Suisse Romande (Swiss French Television). The duo was born in 1999 within Ensemble Oblivion, a quintet de-voted to the execution of South American repertoire, from A. Piaz-zolla to folk music.

The relationship between the two musicians turned out to be par-ticularly intriguing thanks to their musical feeling and to the great creative affi nity of their personalities. This the starting point for the search of musical material included not only in their own instrumen-tal repertoire, for the creation of a surprisingly original duo which stands out in the panorama of classic chamber groups. The programme they are presenting today takes off from Astor Piaz-zola’s music, which is clearly suitable for the combination of these two instruments, to then reach contemporary music, through tran-scriptions of the original works elaborated by the same musicians and also works specially composed for the duo.The piece titled “Waltan”, written by young Italian composer Pamela Ferro and published by Rugginenti, was written purposely for the duo and performed for the fi rst time at the Italian Institute of Culture of Stockholm (Sweden).Since its birth, the duo has regularly performed in Italy and abroad, always greatly appreciated by the audience. Italian Tour for “Gioven-tu’ Musicale D’Italia” (Milan, Camerino, Chioggia, Modena) concerts for the Piedmont Region, “Festival Galuppi” (Venice), Haute Savoie French tour, Swiss tour (Geneva, Lausanne, Bern, Thun, Gland, Nyon, St. Cergue), Saragossa Auditorium (Spain).
