BrochureDescription: This is a brochure that I made for my father’s stone company to display the stone he sells and to inform more people of where they can buy stone.
Programs: Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop
Date: 12/5/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including
the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers, and subheaders.
Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex(two-sided) color.
Process: I first made the shape for the background using illustrator, then I chose
the colors I wanted to use. After that I wrote the text I wanted. I then picked out some of the pictures that I wanted to use for the brochure. Then I made the logo. After that I fixed up the things
that didn’t look quite right and then I add one last image and I printed it.
FlierDescription: Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduateleadership conference.
Programs: Indesign
Date: 10/3/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Apply the design principles and useappropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page
Create a project folder with image, logo and sue an InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.
Process: first I figured out who my audience was, then I sketched out some
ideas for the flier, and after that I asked my peers which idea
they liked best, then I took the top idea and used it as my inspiration for the flier. After I finished making my first draft I showed
it to my peers and let them evaluate it, based
on the design principles and on the requirements for this
project, then I went back to the lab and fixed all the flaws that we found and created my final draft.

LetterheadDescription: This is stationery that I made for my class. I made the logo, business card, and letterhead for an imaginary business that I had to create.
Programs: InDesign and Illustrator
Date: 11/7/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.Use logo to design letterhead.Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows and plenty of white space.Include contact information: name, address, phone,
website, and email on each piece. Use periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no parentheses/ hyphens.
Process: First I made my logo, then I realized that it was a little creepy
so I decided to redo it. I asked my teacher how to fix it and fffffhe helped me to improve it. After I fixed my logo I used the my business card as my
inspiration for the letterhead. I reviewed my work and decided
that the logo could still use some work so I improved it a little more and
fixed my letterhead to match.

Event AdDescription: Ad for a charity event that will be raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Programs: Microsoft Word
Date: 10/10/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together) Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and
audience. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.
Process: I scanned the image in and then added a color filter over top to change the stars from gold to red, then I added the blue box and the white box to place my text on. After that I added the stripes
to the blue box, because stripes was in the name and I thought it needed
some if they were going to be mentioned. Last but not least I added the logo for Saint Jude Hospital.
Stars and Stripes Join us for the 5th annual Stars and Stripes Charity barbeque and firework show. The barbeque will start at 7 and go until 9 and immediately after we will begin the fireworks, which will go until 12. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Date: July 4th 2015 Time: 7 P.M. – 12 A.M. Cost: $12 per person Place: Porter Park Porter Park, Rexburg, ID 83440
PhotodesignDescription: An example of my work to show my future boss what I can dowith photoshop.
Programs: Photoshop
Date: 10/17/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Adjust
image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.) Size
and crop the image, then place on an 8.5×11 page layout. Use layers to design text, and repeating
graphic elements in Photoshop. Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8× (0.125) from all four
sides.
Process: First I took some pictures and then I picked the one that I liked the best. After that I looked and the colors that were in it and chose a color scheme. I then took the
color scheme and decided what I wanted the text to say. I
decided that Christmas would be a good idea and so I looked up quotes.I
found the quote I wanted and just pulled the whole thing together by adding the
stripes.
MontageDescription: An inspirational montage I made by blending multiple images together.
Programs: Microsoft Word
Date: 10/24/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins

Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masksDemonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple
elements Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scriptures…your choice) Format type: Legibility;
Small copy & Title with varying text size. Theme word(s) Select good quality images
Process: I figured out what inspirational thing I wanted to say. I found the
background image I wanted. I found the other images I wanted to use. Edited the background image and made the grey look blue. I used the layer mask on photoshop to
hide the background images oof the small pictures. I made
the small images see through. Added the text. Chose the font I
wanted. Edited the text to give it a shadow
LogosDescription: Logo for an ice cream shop named “Unicone Cream”
Programs: Microsoft Word
Date: 10/31/2015
Course: Visual Media
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use
previous designs. Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them. Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw
your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the pen/pencil, but delete the image before
submitting.) Refine one logo with variations for color
Process: First I made a few sketches and after they were sketched I started to try to make the sketches
digital. I created my first one, and started my second one. The second one was
so bad that I trashed it and started over. I created two new ones. I got some feed back on the logos and people like all of them about equally so I just decided to go with my third
one. I refined it and then received feed back from my teacher. He liked my first
one the best so I redesigned it and made the color variations to it. When I redesigned it
I changed the shape of the ears, the nose, and the face, and I added text.
WebpageDescription: This is a screenshot of a webpage I made to showcase my logo
Programs: I used both Text Wrangler and notepad++

how it appeals to a target audience. (Minimum of 200 words. Include rationale for colors, appeal to target audience, design skills, etc,) Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required tags – Doctype (provided), html,
head, title, meta charset (provided), body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li tags), img, br, and a link to blog) Acquire a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided CSS provided
to format the HTML to complement the logo design. Change at least the following: The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the paragraphs & list
items, the background color, font families and add at least one css comment.)
Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker. Open the HTML page in a web browser and capture a quality screen shot with .5 inch margins for printing.
Process: I made the HTML and then I styled it with CSS to make it look
pretty.
