ALERT Presentation: Virtual Reality Simulation
Training in Pediatric Resuscitation- The New Frontier
Joshua M Sherman MD and Todd P Chang MD, MAcM
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)
INSPIRE @ IMSH 2017 – Orlando, FL, USA
International Network for Simulation-based Pediatric Innovation, Research and Education
Background Medical personnel must be trained to
successfully resuscitate children in extremely stressful and chaotic environments
It is challenging to train medical students and other types of trainees in resuscitative medicine on real live children
Currently there are two main types of simulation being used to train, teach, practice, and test medical trainees and professionals

Often lacks the environmental and psychological stimuli of the real
experience
Costly, Bulky
Not fully immersiveFocus point is obvious to

Can we train, teach, practice And assess pediatric
resuscitation medicine in a 360/ 3D fully immersive environment?
