David Davidson attended
YMCA Camp Osceola
summer camp and snow
camp in the 8th grade.
“And yes, we did
eventually get snowed
in,” David recalls.
From Y Clubs to Camp, David was a Y kid from the
start. David's lifelong friendship with Alden Esping
started when he was in the 9th grade. Alden was his
camp director.
David recalls working and
saving up for a one-week trip
to San Francisco with the Y.
Not only was he was named
"Boy of the Year," his club was
named “Y Club of the Year!”
David eventually became a CIT
(Counselor In Training) at
Camp Osceola with his good
friend Jimmy Love. Then on to Camp Fox! As a first
year leader at Camp Fox, David enjoyed the sun,
swimming, beach, sports, music, dancing and friends!
It’s also the place he met his future wife, Amy.
“Amy and I have so many great memories of our time
at camp. And we have been fortunate to be able to
give back to the YMCA over the years. We’ve been
touched by so many great people at the Anaheim
YMCA. A few names that come to mind are Alden &
Linda, Joel Witt, Stan Hill, Gerry and Diane Aust, Mary
Jo Agren, Bev Fast, Skip Dinkler. We will always
remember their enthusiasm and kindness."
“YMCA Camp is such a great program for all the kids.
Keep up the great work.”

Opening Up Youth toa World of PossibilitiesGage Piszczek has attended YMCA Camp for the
three years thanks to campership funds raised
through the Alden Esping Putting Classic. By his
own admission, Gage was very shy at first, but really
came out of his shell during and after camp. Gage
even asked a girl to dance, something he never
would have had the courage to do before coming
to Camp Fox. It even opened his eyes to a possible
career; camp helped Gage discover his love for
marine biology, something he would now like to
pursue as a career. His mother, Phyllis, said Gage
came back a new person after a week of “first time”
experiences, which included going to an island
(Catalina), snorkeling, kayaking, rock climbing,
touching a shark…even asking a girl to slow dance.
Camp opens up youth to unique outdoor experiences
that help them connect with others and with
themselves. It’s a memorable week of fun, friends
and fellowship that has life-lasting impact.
Your participation in the Alden Esping Putting Classic
helps make the camp experience possible to youth
of all ages. It’s a day of great fun...for a great cause.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. We look
forward to seeing you there.
Named after long-time YMCA Camp
Director and Volunteer, the Alden
Esping Putting Classic is a fun
opportunity for friends of the YMCA
to raise money for future Y campers.
Proceeds from the event open doors
for kids who otherwise could not
participate. Your support will help
create more camperships for
youth in our community.

is a tradition in Anaheim. Whether under the sun at
Camp Fox or nestled in the wilderness at Camp Miehana,
hundreds of campers have the opportunity to experience
a life-changing week of fun and personal discovery.
The program is run by trained volunteer leaders and
staff, who have dedicated their lives to helping young
people grow physically, mentally and spiritually.
At YMCA Camp, youth and teens have the unique
opportunity to make lifelong friends, build confidence,
have fun, meet positive role models and challenge
themselves to accept and demonstrate positive values.
It’s a place where one week can enrich your whole life;
that’s why campers keep coming back to YMCA Camp
year after year. We hope to see you at one of our
