Kavaklıdere Winery, the first private sector wine producer in Turkey, is founded in 1929, it has steadily developed to become Turkey’s leading wine producer.

Kavaklıdere owns 645 hectares of vineyards, located in Ankara-Akyurt, Cappadocia-Gülşehir-Côtes d’Avanos aand Aegean-Kemaliye-Pendore, where professional wine growers strives to maintain the perfect grapes-soil-climate equation and increase the potential of the vines that produce the grapes that have been successful in the production of Anatolian wines for hundreds of years and to introduce wines from international grape varieties grown in Anatolia’s varied micro-climates to achieve their best potential when they are transformed in to wine.

Kavaklıdere Winery has a storage capacity for 19.5 million liters and exports almost 20% of its production, which consists of 64 different wines, plus two grape juices, to European, American and Far Eastern markets.

Since its establishment, Kavaklıdere Winery has stood by its principle of “Anatolian wine from Anatolian grapes” and has improved and introduced indigenous Anatolian wine grapes to the world. Participation in many domestic and foreign competitions has earned Kavaklıdere Winery nearly 900 medals.

TURKISH GRAPE VARIETIES

Boğazkere - Very interesting varietal with nice tannins which may remind of Nebiollo, Tannat from Argentina or Baga in Portugal. Incredible richness and complexity in aromas, high elegance.

Emir - A crisp varietal with decent acidity, not hugely aromatic but with a slightly lemony appley profile. Wines are, light-medium bodied, light yellow colour, highly acidic and delicate. Often mineral on the nose.

Kalecik Karası - May be considered a summer red with a light profiles, juicy and fruity, nice acidity, with notes of toasty cherries and perhaps strawberry jam. An approaching varietal profile would be Gamay with a touch of Pinot Noir.

Narince - Variety considered as the “Turkish Chardonnay” with notes of quince similar also to the flavors one may find in Chenin Blancs from the Loire Valley. Nice acidity, dry and a beautiful roundness.

Öküzgözü - Turkish meaning is bull’s eye due to the shape of the berries. IT has a lot of acidity and fruitiness which makes it a good candidate for barrel ageing. Often blended with Boğazkere. It has fruit and floral flavours, making sofr and easy-to-drink wines.

Sultaniye - Light easy to drink wine, fresh, with hints of pear, pineapple, asparagus and herbal notes. Give dry to semi dry wines.

For three generations, Doluca has been a part of the Turkish winemaking industry, reflecting its traditional and innovative character in its service and product quality.

In 1926, Nihat Kutman, established a small bottling plant in Galata, Istanbul, called Maison Vinicole which later acquired the name Doluca. After lengthy research in Europe, he brought grape varieties and began to grow them in various locations around Mürefte. In the early 1940’s, wines made from these new varieties were introduced into the market and they met with great success. In 1969.

In 1990, Ahmet Kutman, Nihat Kutman’s son, ventured into a project that can be called a turning point in the Turkish wine industry. He established a modern vineyard where the best known grape varieties in the world, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were grown with special care and presented to Turkish consumers in 1998.

Today, Doluca continues to present over 40 different products to its consumer’s delight. Paying as much meticulous attention to consumer relations as to production quality, Doluca has attained a broader contemporary outlook and embraced the mission of developing and enhancing the cultural awareness of wine in Turkey.

Rakı is a at least 500 years Anatolian product with a cultural legacy that spreads throughout Turkey and beyond. There is no clear answer to the question of who first made Rakı. Yeni Rakı as we know it today is the product of an evolution that has developed over centuries. Distilled using grapes, raisins and aniseed, Rakı was first referenced in literature in 1510. It was then widely distilled throughout the Ottoman Empire and in 1937 it became known as Yeni Rakı meaning “New Rakı” to symbolize the coming of the new post-war era.

The aniseed used in Yeni Raki Yeni Seri is hand-picked in the first harvest of the year. Yeni Raki Yeni Seri is made from the freshest most fragrant aniseed of that particular year. Yeni Raki Ala Years of tradition meets expert hands. Carefully selected grapes are sun-dried and mixed with high quality aniseed, then distilled three

times for smoothness. It matures in oak barrels to gain the unique and distinctive flavour it’s renowned for. Yeni Rakı Ustaların Karışımı combines the most characteristic features of Yeni Rakı family in one product to offer a perfect balance of the traditional taste of Yeni Rakı, the aromatic flavor imparted by the first harvest aniseeds and the pleasant taste of Yeni Rakı Yeni Seri, and the intense aroma of Yeni Rakı Âlâ, matured in oak barrels.

The rich heritage of Yeni Rakı matches its rich flavour. With its tones of aniseed and distilled grapes, it is layered and dramatic. This flavour is created through a highly crafted distillation process. It is a skilled and timely process with the flavour and texture developing with each drop.

Efe Raki ventured upon raki production facility works in 2002 following the abolishment of the government monopoly on the production and sales of distilled liquors in our country. Efe Raki first met the consumers in Germany in August of 2004 and later in Turkey. Within the first 6 months, Efe Raki reached a successful sales rate beyond expectations when all of the production was sold out. Upon receiving such appreciation in the market, the annual production capacity was increased from 5 million liters to 15 million liters as of 2005 in order to meet the increasing demand.

Correct brand positioning, consistent marketing and defined promotional strategies also plays a great role in the current success of Efe Raki along with consumer’s appreciation. Efe Raki, meeting consumers as a brand new product in a market where habits are highly deep-rooted, has accomplished creating a loyal customer group despite the compelling structure of the market. Reaching out to more consumers with its unique taste is included in the future marketing strategies of Efe Raki.

The innovations brought to the sector by Efe Raki regarding consumer safety are among the privileges which are adopted by its competitors and which make Efe Raki unique. Efe Raki introduced many innovations to the sector in terms of bottle security. Ball-type caps which are impossible to forge thanks to its security system were first developed by Efe Raki. The red tape which appears when the bottle is opened and does not disappear when closed back is another security measure.
