XI. Long Term Effects of Alcohol on the Body:a. Liver- “c____________ of the liver” Disease of the liver. The cells in the liver break down the alcohol. When the cells break down the alcohol they become weak and die. Once they are dead, the lay in the liver causing scar tissue to build up. This scar tissue affects the way the liver functions.
