Analysis of digipacks
Drake – take care Dark colors
such as black, used to show darkness but
also gold to show expense
Album name written in a
signature way
like drake has signed it himself
The image sh
ows
drake is sad and
lonely with a lot
of money
Dark colors are
used much like all
rap album covers
to stay consist
ant
with the darkness
of rapThe layout is simple
but stands out as everything is bold and contrasts with the dark on light effect
The language
used is very
slang and
straight to the
point much
like all rap
music The mid shot used helps us see the emotion of drake but also his surrounding showing he's not happy with his expensive life The album
name maybe
means he's
saying take
care to his old
life
Jayz – the black albumThe black colors is used again to show the shadiness of rap music
The text in th
is
album is bold but
does not st
and out
as much
The close up of
jayz face holding
his hat over his
face indicates he
wants to be hidden from
something
The colors in this
album clash a lot
with strong use of
black and white, it
shows the
lifelessness in rap
music Unlike take care this album is track numbered and has a paragraph type layout to it unlike take care which is bang in the middle.
The layout of the
tracks on the
back make it
look like there's
more songs on
the cd The darkness of
the album cover
helps represent the
name of the album
The front is all
dark accept jayz
name which is in
white so you read
his name first
ASAP Rocky- long live asap
The colors used once again is dark with black and white to help prove that rap is dark
The image is blurry, which could mean people find it hard to see asap at the topA mid shot of asap
shows him sat on a throne, like the king of America hence why he's wearing a flag
Like drakes song list there's no track numbers, just a row of song names to show the carelessness of rap music now days
The text is bold like jayz album using the white on black style of colors to show rap isn't about color
The album stays
consistant
throughout with the
fuzzy background
much like a TV gone
out of focus, maybe
indicating asap is
going off focus
The title is right in the middle, cutting through the image so people read the title as it is a victory chant title, that followers should say
The language is slanged such as asap with a dollar sign, to add to the street affect
Eminem - Marshall Mather
The text is bold and
stand out from the
dark background on
the image with large
letters so you
remember Eminem's
nameMuch like all rap
covers this 1 also
tells a story, like
Eminem feels alone
and scared in a
nasty place
The e is the wrong way round, adding to the street style of rap music slang styleThe long shot of Eminem shown helps show he's alone at home and filled with fear from something
The tracks are numbered in this album, giving it a more professional feel unlike asap and drake
Drake and asaap
don’t number there
songs as they expect
there fans to listen to
all of them instead of
picking a track
number
The layout is more professional in this album unlike the other rap ones, as Eminem attracts a lot of different genre people who may not even like rap due to his style of lyrics
Parental advisory
All the albums had this sign on the bottom corner, as it has a lot of hard hitting content and swear words that might not be appropriate for young fans. This is very common in rap music as some feeling are expressed through words or use of products that other genres don’t talk about. Rap is the only genre that uses the most explicit content in songs but it is needed to truly show how someone feels in there lyrics unlike pop which talks about love etc.
