Album Cover Inspiration

Kate Burton.

My Chemical RomanceDanger Days

I chose to look at an album cover of My Chemical Romance as I see their music videos as quite serious and wanted to portray the same sense throughout my album cover. Here their symbol that is seen throughout the albums music video’s has been projected over the landscape where a lot of the music videos where filmed. With this a filter seems to have been added to enhance the colour, and then a lens flare in the centre of both the image and the symbol.

Fall Out BoySave Rock And Roll

This album cover was meant to represent how the band saw their new album and music style as they came back from their hiatus.

"We came across the punk and monk image on the Internet and it really solidified what we were trying to get across on the record: The idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together," FOB wrote

about the cover on their official site. "Obviously this is an image that means a lot to many people ... these kids represent the youth, change and irreverence that we hope

our record is listen to with."By showing these two young boy wearing such contrasting looks – a traditional monks robe against jeans, a T shirt and smoking – the message of how their music style is obliged to the past but moves to the future.

You Me At SixStay With Me

This album cover is for a single of You Me At Six, the band whose song I am using for my music video. I thought it would be a good idea to see their style even if I’m not planning on replicating it. The song ‘Stay With Me’ is from a different album than ‘Crash’ but creates the imagery I’m looking for during my music video. This may be as it seems to portray a sense of memory and past time – something that’s included my my work.

All Time LowNothing Personal

I chose to look at an album cover of All Time Low as they fall into the same musical genre as You Me At Six. The doodles that have been done over photographs seem to show a sense of childishness. The objects such as the pencil, cassette tape and pocket watch could have been Scanogramed into the image to make them seem more real.

Panic! at the DiscoToo Weird to Live. To Rare to Die.

Although all other chosen album covers are also the same genre as my chosen song, I feel that this cover will be a heavy influence for when I conduct my own Photo-shoot. This is because I want to show the artist as the significant star image of the entire band, as it is for so many other music groups. I also feel that the black and white filter is very effective for the genre – something else I may use for my own album cover as the song I chose fits with the emotions that can be conveyed through this effect.
