This operation involves the regional distribution of Consumer Goods (Electronics), and also global distribution of Spare/Repair Parts (Reverse Logistics). During this period, I worked hard to scale the career ladder, starting as a Quality Assurance Engineer (1989) rising to the position of General Manager (2004). In the early years, I was also seconded to EDB as a LIUP officer to source and transfer technology from Japan to nurture local industries.

1) Regional Parts Quality Assurance (Engineer to Snr Mgr): 1989~992) Regional Procurement Management (Snr Mgr to Asst. GM): 2000~043) Corporate Planning & Control (Asst. GM to GM): 2004~074) Regional Six Sigma Management (Instructor/Consultant): 2000~07

E.2.1) Regional Procurement and Quality Assurance of Parts & ComponentsSet-up, implement and manage Strategic Procurement policies and operations in Asia region to assist global manufacturing activities.

The International Procurement Office (IPO) HQ in SEA is responsible for the overall Buy/Sell of about USD500 mil worth Parts and Components from 1,200 + suppliers. This region offers the largest pool of suppliers (from Semiconductors to Precision Components, etc). Known for the relatively low-cost of manufacturing, the region is an important parts/components source for worldwide Sony productions (i.e. US, EU, Japan, SEA and China).

Regional Procurement Management and Quality Assurance also encompass the understanding of what our production plants/lines require. Thus, there is ample collaboration with the Design department and production to avoid line stoppages which can be very costly.

My role was to manage a pool of 50+ staffs to ensure that these Parts and Components meet our stringent requirements, purchased at an optimum level of QCDS (High Quality, Low Cost, JIT Delivery and Good Service).
