The renewable energies are the future because the non-renewable energies will be finished in a few years. There are many renew-able energies: Wind power, Solar en-ergy, Electric energy, Thermal or Calorific energy, etc.

The non-renewable energies are: The petroleum and all of the derivates, the coal, nature gas, etc. In London for example, some buses use hydrogen batteries. All of the non-renewable energies contrib-ute to global warming. The composition of the petrol is the rest of animals and plants in de-composition during millions of years. What do you do to avoid global warming?

I think this film that is one of the best films

in the history of science fiction. I like it be-

cause the characters and the graphics are very

well done. However the idea of the humans is

bad but this idea of humans provokes the ac-

tion and the fights... I think that the length of

the movie is too long and could be shorter.

For example in the scene of ‘‘Arbolmadre’’

destruction the tragedy could be a little

shorter... but I like this film. It has action and I

love the action in films and it hasn´t got too

much love plot. In my opinion this makes

films to be

tacky. I would

like to know

how they do

the special ef-

fects. This is my

opinion of one

of the best

films in 2009.

The castle of Chinchilla de Monte-Aragón was a fortress of the XVI cen-tury. The castle was one of the most strategic locations in Spain, and one of the most populated cities of the time. The origin of the set is very old, and that on Roman foundations have found remains of Gothic walls, Arab and Chris-tian, with the remodeling of the latter commanded by the Infant Don Juan Manuel. To mid XV century the castle was restored by the Marquess of Villena, Juan Pacheco. For nearly three centu-ries, the fortress was used as a prison, reason why it has its present shape. That prison housed historical characters like Cesar Borja, who was accused of the murder of his brother, Duke of Gandia.

It served as barracks for troops during the Napoleonic Wars of Succession and Independence. It is built of stone, us-ing masonry walls, and chairs in the most repre-sentative areas.

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. There are over eight million seven hundred thou-sand people of population. Puerto Príncipe is the capital, it has one mil-lion four hundred thousand people.

Ten days ago, a strong earth-quake demolished the west of Haiti. The most affected city was the capital, Puerto Príncipe. There were hundreds of buildings knocked down with thousands of people into there. A lot of Hospitals, schools, of-ficial buildings and houses fallen down.

Many hours later there were not official figures of deaths and hurts, but the disaster was very big.

A lot of solidarity people moved to Haiti to help their population. Yet there are a lot of people buried under the debris. There is not any hope to save any more people.

A lot of people have lost one or more relatives. Their houses have been lost and the survivors are sleeping in the streets. They are afraid because another earthquake could happen again. Spain has sent humanitarian help and Spanish people are there now to help Haiti. Those days a Spanish fireman saved a twenty two days old baby and a three years old child. The picture of this event, giving peo-ple hope, appeared in the papers from over the world. Today, two weeks after the earth-quake thirty six helping teams are trying to find some living people.

In Albacete some high schools and schools like ours collected money to help Haiti. Everybody was waiting for some news telling that the people are fine and there are not any more tragedies in this country.

Ash cloud causes chaos in Europe’s air traffic

Last 14th April, the Ey-jafjallajökull volcano in

Iceland erupted and re-

leased a great cloud of ash. This shouldn’t sound strange, because Iceland has the highest number of

active volcanoes in Europe. Its ash cloud moved to

Western Europe and disrupted most of its air traffic. The reason for this was because the particles in the

smoke could enter the planes’ engines and motors and

cause severe damage, so most companies decided not

to fly. Also, in some places, the ash was too dense to see anything. The cloud first reached north-ern Europe and later advanced to central countries, up to southern France. By the 16th April, it had reached Kazakhstan! Thank-

fully, on the 21st it weakened and is now going westwards, to Greenland.

Flights from and to Europe’s most important airports were delayed, especially in Heathrow, Frankfort and Paris and this stranded many travelers, so they had to find

alternatives, and many took a train or the car, which would make the journey much

longer than by plane. This was especially difficult in the UK, since it is an island, and here the ashes have accumulated in the streets of London. Also, many politi-

cians couldn’t go to the funeral of the Polish president due to this problem. In total

95,000 flights have been cancelled, but some airports have started re

-opening their airspace.

In other words, it is complete chaos and we all hope this prob-

lem is solved soon, because this has been the largest air traffic

shutdown since World

War II! Written by Liam Jackson 2B ESO
