Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Mamta Bhargavas mother, worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi and joined his non-cooperaon movement against Brish rule. Her popular Hindi poems such as Jhansi Ki Rani, Jallianwala Bagh, Veeron Ka Kaisa Ho Basant, Rakhi Ki Chunau, and Vida inspired many Indian youths to parcipate in the Indian freedom movement, and one of the poems will be featured in this program. Gandhi April 13, 2019 100th Anniversary of the Incident October 2, 2019 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, known in India as Mahatma or the great soul and endearingly as Bapu or father. He is considered Father of the Naon as he was one of the major figures of the Indian independence movement against Brish colonial rule leading India to independence through nonviolent civil disobedience.
