Unlimited Opportunities seem to continue to present themselves to us at First Baptist Church of Athens. We have experienced a wonderful summer and we anticipate an amazing transition into the fall season during August and September. Your interest and your involvement in the many ministries of our
beloved church are the keys to the excitement in the Lord’s work which so many are enjoying
Unconditional Love has been showered upon us from our gracious Father. The reflection of that love to the Father and to every person must continue to be our unified aim and focus. God is obviously revealing to us that as we join together in one accord, He has blessings to bestow that cannot be received otherwise. You are to be commended for moving beyond personal preferences and desires to a willingness to sacrifice for the sake of God’s glory and the
building of His kingdom.
Undeniable Fruitfulness comes from the hand of our Lord when we obey Him. His desire, His design and His direction are discovered in consistent Worship, Prayer, Bible Study, Obedience, and Surrender. Week by week as we join our hearts and lives together He works among us. He has declared that we are literally His Body. We must continue to allow Him to mold us and make us into the beautiful Bride He intends for us to be. And, soon...yes soon and even very soon...He will come for us. Let us continue to do our best to be ready and to be active in anticipation of that
glorious day.
God loves you and so do we,
Brother Edwin and Joan

have requested as one of their needs Walmart gift cards. You may
purchase a card of any denomina-tion or make a contribution and
WMU will purchase the card for you. Turn in donations to the church
office or Joyce Shown. Thank you!
The Church Library will be a drop-off
location for donated books for United Way’s “ Stuff the Bus” campaign. New
and/or gently used books can be placed in the big blue bin, Aug. 1-Sept. 10. They will
then be distributed to area schools for K-12 students to use and receive as rewards for
reaching reading goals. Beginning in July, a list of suggested titles will be available in
the church library.
Thank you for your support!

A Call to Prayer
Coming out of our God and Count ry Day 2014 there was a feeling among many of the First B apti st F amily that we need t o st rengthen our on-going prayer ministry . Praying for ourselves , our church, our community and our nati on is not an option but an urgent and import ant neces-sity. B eginning Wednesday, August 6 an additional prayer time/opportunity will begin. We will m eet i n t he W ors hi p Cent er on W ednesday Mor ni ngs at 6 :30 a .m . t o pr ay. Any and all are invited. You may come and go as you like but t he basic time will be 6:30-7:00 am. Doug & Betsy Walker are going to be l eading the way in this .
There will also be other aspects of this increased ministry and focus on prayer. Some persons will not be able to attend the 6:30-7:00 am time. There will be other times and opportunities made available and announced as time goes on. The most important
thing to do is PRAY for God to move among us.
