Welcome to VTH2011 – While you wait, test your audio
Unless we are doing a sound check, you will not be hearing any audio now until we begin at 3:00 pm CDT.
Test your speakers and microphone by interacting with the Audio Settings window that launched when you joined. If you closed it inadvertently you can go to the Controls menu, or to the Audio Settings link over the ALA logo to open it again
Under the Speakers & Microphone areas, click on the Device: drop-down list to indicate your hardware. If you have a USB headset with
microphone attached, do not select this checkbox. This only applies to a stand-alone microphone.

iLinc Technical Overview - Chatting2
If you want to contribute during one of the Open Discussion segments that follow each agenda item, you must indicate this by messaging the correct contact in the Private Chat tab as President Stevens will describe in a moment.
Double-clicking on a name under the Private tab will initiate a private chat. Please double-click on the name Help Desk if you require technical assistance.
The Public Chat tab is intended for attendee interaction and is not being monitored by the Leader & Assistants. It will be made active after President Steven’s Housekeeping Guidelines are completed. Due to the large number of attendees, we reserve the right to deactivate Public Chat if it becomes too disruptive. There will be many ways to provide feedback through-out this event outside of text-based chat. For example:

Feedback, Polling & Surveys3
Throughout the Virtual Town Hall, we will be asking for and recording your input via a variety of interfaces. Feedback: Located in the bottom left corner is a quick way to get YES and NO responses
from all and we can share the results with all.
Polling: Polls offer a more customized series of responses than feedback and show the question being asked. Polls will appear in this center area of the iLinc platform where you are looking at this presentation now. These polls will appear to gather your input regarding questions brought forth during the Town Hall. Always interact with the poll in the center area. Do not type your responses in the Chat because they will not be recorded.
Survey: An iLinc-based survey will be opened at the end of the Town Hall also in this center area. Surveys allow for your typed input rather than a pre-determined set of responses. Please do not sign-off before completing it, as we are interested to know your impression about our first Virtual Membership event.

Technical FAQs4
The Twitter hash tag for this event is #vth2011 and @ALALibrary will live-tweet throughout
This event is being live captioned by CaptionFirst for the hearing impaired and can be accessed via the url: http://tinyurl.com/alavthcap. We are displaying that link in the chat pane on the right now. It will be necessary to display the captioning in a side-by-side internet browser window.
For the vision impaired, iLinc is 508 compliant and works with screen reading software except for the text within this presentation which is converted to an image.
A recording of this event which captures polling results will be distributed via an email notification to all attendees and posted to the ALA Connect Members community, three days after the event since a transcript will be created to accompany it by CaptionFirst.
This PowerPoint presentation will also be made available in ALA Connect.
