Our Website "Allegiance to Khalifa" is the first virtual site designed to show appreciation,recognition and loyalty toHis Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President oftheUnited Arab Emirates, for his continuous contributions and accomplishments in boosting theUAEs social and economic welfare on the regional as well as on the internat ional level . HisHighness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan gives extraordinary care for the citizens in termsof providing them with the basic needs : adequate housing , healthcare and free education , aswell as embracing safety and security and care for citizens , residents and expatriates in theUnited Arab Emirates .

Yourregistrationand participation in thischarteris a message for spreading the culture ofpeace and peaceful coexistence, that is embraced by the United Arab Emirates under its faithfulRulers .

The charter will be presented to H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan , the President ofUnited Arab Emirates . The Founders of the United Arab Emirates headed by H.H. SheikhZayed bin Sultan Al Nahyanand his brotherH.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum- may

Allah have mercy upon them - and their brothers the Rulers of the other Emirates , whosefootsteps were followed by all successors under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa BinZayed Al Nahyan and his brotherH.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and theirbrothers , the members of theSupreme Councilof the Union , these founders have formed aunique and flawless model for unity , which has been particularly characterized by the peacefulcivilized coexistence in the United Arab Emirates.

This Charter aims at achieving a global peace based on the model of the United Arab Emirates

as an example for the whole world , in peaceful coexistence , with love , security and respectamongst all nationalities , religions and beliefs .

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was elected as secondPresident of theUnited Arab Emirates, the state that was announced on the2nd of December 1971 . He is also the sixteenth ruler of the Emirate ofAbuDhabi, the largest of the seven emirates forming the Union .His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan came to be president ofthe federal state , and became the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the

3rd of November 2004 , succeeding to his father , Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan AlNahyan , who passed away on the 2nd of November 2004.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa was born in 1948 , in the eastern region of the Emirate of AbuDhabi , and received his basic education in the city of Al Ain , the capital and the administrativecenter of the eastern region . His Highness is the elder son of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan

Al Nahyan. His mother is Her Highness Sheikha Hessa , daughter of Mohammed bin Khalifabin Zayed Al Nahyan , and H.Hs affiliation returns to his tribe , Bani Yas , the mother Tribe of

most of the Arab tribes , which inhabited what is today known as the United Arab Emirates , andled an alliance of Arab tribes , known historically as the "Pact of Bani Yas" .His Highness Sheikh khalifa has accompanied his father Sheikh Zayeds march in all its stages .His first official position was "the Rulers Representative in the Eastern Region and Chairman ofthe courts" , on September 18th 1966 . This position was of great importance in his life . On theother hand , when he lived in Al-Ain city , H.H. had the opportunity for a daily contact with the

citizens , so that he could recognize their situations and needs , and identify their aspirationsand hopes .His Highness Sheikh Khalifa was appointed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on the first of February1969 , and Head of the Defense Department , and therefore he became the commander of thearmed forces of the emirate , and played a key role in its development , and converted it from asimple guard force to a strong multifunctional and well-equipped institution of the armed forces .On the first of July 1971 , His Highness Sheikh Khalifa became the prime minister of the firstLocal Cabinet in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi , in addition to holding the Defense and Financeministries in the Council .

After the announcement of the Federal State , and beside his local responsibilities , HisHighness Sheikh Khalifa became Deputy Prime Minister in the Federal Government formed inDecember 1973 .

In February 1974 , after the abolition of the local cabinet , he became the first Head of theExecutive Council , which replaced the local cabinet of the emirate in all its functions andresponsibilities .During his presidency of the Executive Council he supervised and watched the developmentand modernization projects all over the emirate , he also gave a great attention to thedevelopment and modernization of the infrastructure projects , facilities and services . Heworked on building a modern and integrated administrative and legislative system , as a basefor the economic and social development .In addition to his responsibilities as the head of the Executive Council , His Highness took in1976 the mission of establishing and heading The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) ,which manages the financial investments of the emirate as a part of a strategic vision for thedevelopment of financial resources , and to maintain a stable source of income for future

generations .One of the key initiatives of His Highness that has left a profound social impact , was thecreation of the Department of Social Services and commercial buildings , which was knownamong people as (Sheikh Khalifa Committee) . the activities of this department were translatedinto real actions and helped in the prosperity of the construction boom in the Emirate of AbuDhabi .His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed occupied the position of the Deputy SupremeCommander of the Armed Forces of the Federal Government , in which he gave a carefulattention and a growing interest in the armed forces , and during which , there had been aquantum leap in terms of equipment , training and capacity to adapt new technologies , andadvanced techniques , that HIS Highness was strongly aware to provide , in all sectors of theseforces .

It is highly appreciated , for His Highness , his contribution in the formulation of a militarydoctrine , derived from the constant beliefs of the high politics of the state, based on the policyof moderation , and non-interference in the affairs of others , and on the respect of mutualinterests . Abiding by these constants , His Highness worked on the formation of a defensepolicy that is based on the maintenance of independence , sovereignty and interests of the state. This policy has contributed in positioning the UAE Armed Forces in an advanced position , thatgained the respect of the world .

As soon as His Highness became the president of the UAE , he launched the first strategic planfor the Government of the United Arab Emirates . He also launched his initiative to develop the

experience of the legislative authority , by modifying the way of selecting the members oftheFederal National Council, through a combination of election and appointment as a first step, preparing for the ultimate selection of the Council members through direct elections . HisHighness cares also about various sports activities in the State , especially football , and he iskeen to look after them . He also cares to honor the local sports teams who have madecontributions locally , regionally or internationally.

SHEIKH ZAYED BIN SULTAN AL NAHYAN ESTABLISHER OF THE UAE

Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan , the founder of the UAE (1918- 2004) . He was the first president

ofUnited Arab Emirates and the ruler ofAbu Dhabi.He was born in 1918 in Al Ain , and was elected to

be the president of thecountry and the Chief of HighUnion Council.

Brief History

1946 he became the ruler of Al Ain City.

6th of August 1966 , he became the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

21st of October 1969 , he was elected as President of the nine-states-union

(including Qatar and Bahrain).

2nd of December 1971 , he was elected President of the UAE.

In 1999 , he received the Environment and Development Award.

The Union Maker

Sheikh Zayed withSheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum , the ruler

ofDubai, put together the main pillars of this union by uniting theirtwoEmirates,Abu DhabiandDubai, then , they invited the rulers of the

other Emirates to join this union, who agreed on the 2nd of December 1971 .

Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf or Gulf Cooperation

Council (GCC)Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabbah ,Ruler of Kuwait , were sharing the same idea of having a council for all theGulf countries before it came true on 25th of May 1981 in Abu Dhabi.

Zayeds Demise

H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan died on the 2nd of November 2004 and was

succeeded by his son ,H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President

of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
