In a cultural milestone for the UAE, Expo 2020 Dubai has commissioned anEmirati opera titled ‘Al Wasl’ (meaning ‘The Connection’ in English).

A thousand years of culture will be brought to life through the Al Wasl Opera.Sung in English, audiences will be captivated by a story centred on unity andconnectivity. Since time immemorial, our values have connected us, bindingthe UAE as a nation and a connector between civilisations. This continues tobe the thrust of our progress into the future and will be revealed to theaudience through the art of storytelling. The two-hour performances will letyou experience the true spirit of connection.

Combining Emirati and global talent, ‘Al Wasl’ Opera will bring life the UAE’srich history and share its innovative spirit with the world.

To mark this momentous achievement, Welsh NationalOpera has specially designated accessible operaworkshops for Primary / Cycle 1 Students.

These interactive workshops will be an introduction toopera, story-telling, and classical music. Each session willexplore themes around unity, connectivity, innovation andhistory, central to the story of ‘Al Wasl’ Opera, whilstdragging references from classical music.
