The National Youth Orchestra of Iraq is a fantastic living example of peace and reconciliationby Iraqis, for Iraq and for the world. This year NOOI has been invited by the ScottishGovernment to hold three weeks summer school during the Edinburgh Festival.

NYOI’s diversity brings together young Arabs and Kurds, among others from across Iraq, tocreate real harmony together. NYOI was founded by a brave 17-year-old Iraqi, Zuhal Sultan, just four years ago. Since then, the orchestra has developed with the tireless energy ofMusical Director Paul MacAlindin. Though many musicians fled the country during the war,NYOI has been determined to create a national youth orchestra for Iraq and the world bycollaborating with the British Council and the German Friends of NYOI.
