Analytik Jena is built on the solid tradition of Carl Zeiss optical technology. Our history is based on the inventions made by Ernst Abbe and Carl Zeiss over 150 years ago. The Zeiss history in optical spectroscopy is also the history of Analytik Jena instruments. If you want to read more about our history please click here ä

Today Analytik Jena AG is one of the strongly expanding and most innovative German com-panies. We have excellent competencies in the fields of optical spectroscopy, sum parameter and elemental analysis. We develop and manufacture instruments for:n Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)n High-Resolution Continuum Source Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (HR-CS AAS)n Mercury analysisn UV/Vis/NIR spectroscopyn TOC/TNb analysis, AOX/EOX/TOX/POX analysisn C/N/S/Cl elemental analysis n Determination of the antioxidant capacity

multi EA® 5000 – Elemental analyzers of Analytik Jena for oil, gas and chemicals

One minute S in diesel, the next minute Cl in propylene gas – with multi EA® 5000 you analyze all parameters of one sample without converting the analysis system. One analyzer for identifying carbon, sulfur, chlorine and nitrogen, TOC, AOX/TOX, EOX in liquid samples, solids, gases and LPG matrices: This gives you the security of being able to meet the most varied analytical challenges in next to no time.

The globally unique double furnace technology of the multi EA® 5000 makes it quick to switch between vertical and horizontal applications in one instrument, i.e. fast and optimum adaptation to the sample matrix and analysis standard with minimal effort.

Unlimited possibilities with the multi-element analyzer multi EA® 5000Determination of sum parameters and element contents from ppb to mass percent

multi EA® 5000 with multi-matrix autosampler

The precise, fast and user-friendly determination of quality determining elements, such as sulfur, nitrogen, chlorine and carbon but also the analysis of environmentally relevant sum parameters, is continually gaining significance in modern analysis laboratories in the chemical, petrochemical and many other industry branches. [...]

In the petrochemical and related branches of the chemical industry, such as the manufacture of po-lymers, many production processes are controlled based on the analysis of end products. The addi-tion of catalysts and additives during production process and the later performance characteristics can be precisely controlled by these measures. Mainly elemental analysis is applied for this pur-

Another advantage is the flame sensor technolo-gy that guarantees matrix-optimized, quantitative combustion. Even unknown samples, whose pro-perties are unidentified, can be analyzed soot-free, precisely and reliably.

At Analytik Jena we regularly update our comprehensive database of application notes that provides applica-tion support for different branches. Make use of interesting application news that will assist you in your daily routine.

Determination of sulfur in kerosene, jet fuel and related matrices[…] For each sample a volume of 20 µl was directly injected into the evaporation zone of the combus-tion tube with the help of the autosampler. Com- bustion took place in the vertical operation mode. […] The sulfur content of the samples is deter-mined using a highly sensitive UV fluorescence detector. […]

Applications in petrochemistry

Determination of nitrogen in crude oil[…] The crude oil to be tested was diluted with a suitable nitrogen-free solvent before the analysis due to its high viscosity and the significant element content. Xylene was used for this. The dilutions were injected in quartz boats with the aid of the au-tosampler. The boats were fed into the combustion system. The fed speed is controlled by the flame sensor. The quantitative thermal decomposition was done in a two-phase process. The nitrogen content of the sample is determined using a che-moluminescence detector. […]

Determination of total nickel and vanadium and their volatile and thermally stable species in crude oil using high-resolution continuum source graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry

The ‘visibility’ of the spectral vicinity of the ana-lytical line at high resolution and the hitherto unattained performance of the truly simultaneous background correction are outstanding features of high-resolution continuum source atomic absorpti-on spectrometry (HR-CS AAS). A potential source of error in the analysis of crude oil using graphite furnace AAS (GF AAS) was discovered with the aid of this technique. Part of the organic nickel and vanadium compounds (porphyrins) is volatile already at temperatures above 400 °C and can be lost in the pyrolysis stage, whereas the salt-like, polar compounds of both elements are thermally stable up to 1300 °C and 1600 °C, respectively.

HR-CS GF AAS also makes possible determining volatile and non-volatile species separately, which significantly increases the information content of the analyses. […]

Determination of minerals in oil products using graphite furnace AAS and direct solid sampling

Pb 283.306 nm, 3D mean spectrum

Determination of Pb, Cr and Na in resin and wax samplesThe samples were analyzed directly without any further preparation. The measurements were per-formed with the contrAA® high-resolution continu-um source graphite tube AAS instrument and the completely automatic solids autosampler SSA.
