Transcript of AIS Newsletter - 2
Welcome back to the second Edition of the newsletter. We hope
you had a great time during the module break, visiting family &
friends or just going out to some of the beautiful beaches and
springs of Florida. Many of you might have been to the first ever
Gator Growl to happen outside the stadium and the game after.
Even though the homecoming match was a great disappointment
and it probably looks like the end of Muschamp era, Gators are not
out the fray yet and we have exciting events coming up for you to
cheer up. Halloween is here. Last time we had Vampires, clowns
and people with weird and scary make up. Get your costume ready
for this years’ Halloween event and show us your scary side. The
most scary costume, will get a special and exclusive, uh, no, it will
get the most number of shouts. See you on Halloween day.
WHATS HAPPENING

General Body Meeting
Halloween/Community Service
October 26, 2014
If you are not really into football and sports in general like
me or if you don’t believe it’s necessary or healthy to over-
stretch the body for no reason, its all
right. Earn some good karma this
week by being a part of the AIS com-
munity service event. Its always nice to
give back to the com- munity. AIS or-
ganizes a community event each semester where stu-
dents are treated to a rewarding experience. This time, we
will have members write letters to high school students in
Gainesville about the ISOM program. Block your calendar
for October the 31st.

The last two weeks were
kind of slow but we had
two key events, one in
technology and other in
community service. While
some members got lucky
at the Microsoft tech talk
with some really Kool
Xbox games ,others
wrote inspiring letters to
High School students in-
troducing them to our
major and field of Infor-
mation Systems and the
opportunities available in
the group. I am sure this
is what the kids think af-
ter reading the letters,
‘ISOM is Awesome’.
They say that if you do a good deed, it comes back to you. You earn good karma for it and something
good is bound to happen to you. I have never seen it happen in real until recently when I started using
LinkedIn. I received endorsements for skills I didn’t know I had from people I didn't know I knew. I was
mystified sometimes when I received endorsements for some weird skill. I seriously doubted the value
of endorsements on LinkedIn since it is so easy to endorse some one. But then I realized that its all
about Karma. When you endorse some one on LinkedIn for a skill which you might or might not know
about, you inevitably earn some Good Karma. You will for sure get an endorsement in return. Once
you receive an endorsement, you are under psychological pressure to repay the endorsement and you
eventually do it since it is just a click of a button. If you don’t believe me, endorse my skills and see how
it comes back to you.
Can you please tell me a little more
about yourself just so that we know
y o u r p e r s o n a l b a c k g r o u n d ?
Born and raised in Florida, I now live in
Atlanta, Georgia. I spent five great
years at UF, graduating with my mas-
ters from the ISOM program.
How does it feel coming back to UF
campus? What were some things
about UF campus which are close to
your heart ,like places you used to
hang out, favorite eating places?
It is always great coming back to UF - I
spent some of the best years of my life
so far in Gainesville and always con-
sider it another home of mine.
When I'm back in town, I always try to
visit Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, The
Swamp Restaurant, Salty Dog Saloon,
Gator's Dockside, and Leonardo's Piz-
za.
Did you observe any change in your-
self from the time you were a student
and now, after working with PWC ?
Absolutely - you have to continue to
grow and adapt to improve yourself
and those around you. PwC acknowl-
edges the importance of developing
the people in our network and provides
an environment which encourages real
-time feedback and coaching, so with
the help of others I am constantly
working to improve myself.
How involved were you on UF cam-
pus. Can you please tell us some of
the campus organizations you were
part of and how involvement on cam-
pus has influenced you.
Throughout my five years at UF, I was
very involved in campus organizations:
Florida Blue Key, Inter-fraternity Coun-
cil, Student Government, Homecoming
& Gator Growl, and Kappa Sigma Fra-
ternity, to name a few. I view the roles
and associated responsibilities I had to
be equally important to my education,
as I found these organizations provid-
ed opportunities to improve the leader-
ship and communications skills that
you might not get a chance to exercise
in the classroom. I highly encourage
everyone to get involved with some-
thing they are passionate about,
whether it is on- or off-campus.
What sport do you enjoy playing
and how do you unwind from work
pressure? Do you find time to
catch up on the football season?
Although I have not played in a
while, I enjoy playing soc-
cer. Otherwise, I enjoy spending
my free time with my fiancé
(getting married next summer!), our
dog, and friends. I always cheer on
the Gators, in all kinds of weather.
In this edition we are featuring Jason Hancock. Jason graduated in 2012 from the ISOM program.
He is currently working with PwC, Atlanta in the Risk Assurance group and specializes in SAP Se-
curity, Controls, and GRC Solutions.

If you are reading this, I assume you would have read the rest of
the Newsletter. In that case, Thank You. There might be many of
you out there who like to write, just like me. Send your article ide-
as, suggestions ,or feedback to-
Biggest fear: The world will come to an end because of global warming.
Fun fact: I can modulate my voice and speak like a two-year. Yeah, I am a prank-
ster! I normally do this in public when there are no children around. Also I wish
some day I can do a voice over for an animated movie
Plans for the future: I aspire to have a business venture of my own and write a
book some day. I also want to explore the under water world, go scuba diving in
the most diverse oceans of the world
Favorite past time: I love writing. I normally write poems or paint or watch a movie
Biggest fear: Definitely snakes. I even had nightmares about snakes when I was a
kid .
Fun fact: I like to sing when I’m driving alone, and when I cook.
Plans for the future: What I imagine about my life in a few years is like, I’ll have a career
that I really enjoy and I’m doing things I’m really good at, have a house with a big yard, a
fancy red-color car, and a second dog to join our family:)
Favorite past time: I like to travel, so basically every tour can be my favorite time. The
most recent one was a road trip from Salt Lake City to Grand Teton and Yellowstone Na-
tional Parks.
Biggest fear: I would really fear the day when I stop introspecting myself and hence stop
growing; but on a serious note I would be really be scared to eat shrimps. Sometimes the
moments you were most afraid of, will make you laugh when you remember them.
Fun fact: I have gotten away with a lot of mischievous acts by pretending as my twin
brother. Please don't blow my cover.
Plans for the future: I want to social entrepreneur in field of education and healthcare.
Favorite past time: Cooking and hiking. I am always excited to meet new people and learn about their cultures.
