Open Spray Tower Tray Tower

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

The Tray Tower is used forseveral purposes:

Particulate Removal Acid Gas Absorption

Gas Cooling

The trays are in principleperforated plates, upon whicha layer of liquid is kept at acertain level by a weir. Typicalexamples of trays are shownbelow.

After leaving the top tray thegas passes through a mist

eliminator for droplet removal.

Impingement tray

A dual layer tray providesintense gas-liquid mixing.It cools and absorbsgases and removes fineparticulate. The bottomlayer divides the gasstream into a myriad ofsmall bubbles while theupper layer provides atarget area for impinge-ment and additionalbreakup of air bubblesabove each orifice.

Valve Tray

An adjustable impinge-ment tray maintainsconstant efficiency andpressure drop via amovable self-adjustingcap for varying gasvolumes. The tray designalso provides effectivecooling capabilities andgaseous absorption.

Tubular Slot Tray

The tubular slot tray hasbeen designed especiallyfor gases with high par-ticulate loadings. It providesexcellent cooling andgas absorption andresists plugging fromheavy concentration ofparticulate and fibrousmaterial.

Sieve Tray

A multi-orifice plate inwhich a gas stream issub-divided into numer-ous jets as it penetratesa layer of water on thetray. It is used primarilyto cool a saturated gasstream, reduce gas volume,and condense steamplumes.

MOST COMMON TRAYS

The Open Spray Tower is a vertical vessel with anumber of spray zones. At the bottom of the tower is aliquid reservoir, from which recycle pumps supply liquidto each spray zone. Above the upper spray header is aMist Eliminator that will remove all liquid droplets fromthe gas. The mist eliminator is provided with a fresh waterwash spray that prevents build up of reaction salts.
