AIRLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM1ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEWThis is an application software which deals with to assist an airline with the transactions related to making ticket reservations, which includes blocking, reservation, cancellation and rescheduling tickets.This software reduces the efforts and frustration for the traveler in scheduling in a trip, especially by reducing the search effort for the flight they need to take.It reduces the redundancy in the information required from the customer in order for them to buy tickets , create user accounts etc.It also check the validity of input data and give a feedback to the user in case of errors or inconsistency. 2EXISTING SYSTEMExisting system maintains consistency among different access modes, e.g. by phone, by web, at the information desk and across the different physical locations. It maintains customer information in case of emergency, e.g. flight cancellation due to inclement weather. Increase awareness among frequent travelers about various special offers and discounts.Minimize the number of vacant seats on a flight and maximize flight capacity utilization.Maintain the capability to adopt a flexible pricing policy. Provide flexible access modes to users-internet. Telephone and PDA.

3LIMITATIONS OF EXSTING SYSTEM ARS shall be made more flexible in ticket reservation handling, and shall accept waiting list for reservation.The telephonic interface of the ARS shall be made improved to support more functionality like allowing the customers to cancel a ticket etc. by incorporating security measures.ARS shall be made more dynamic and helpful to the users enabling it to send instant messages to the passengers , of a cancelled or rescheduled flight , through E-mail, phone, fax etc.informing them about the change &provide them other alternatives.Information about the meals served in the flight should be in the system. 4PROPOSED SYSTEMThe proposed system of ARS minimizes repetitive work done by the system administration and reservation clerks.It maintains customer information in case of emergency, e.g. flight cancellation due to inclement weather. Maximizes the revenue of the airplane company by various means : Increase awareness among frequent travelers about various special offers and discounts.Make it easy for travelers to check the ticket status or make changes to their trip.Information about the kinds of meals served in a flight & the type of entertainment offered in flight should be incorporated into the system.
