Description

At our Institute, we are responsible for the operationand maintenance of the FLEXOP technological demon-strator aircraft. Currently, we are operating one flight-ready aircraft.

During final integration and successful flight tests,we were collected a lot of experience and ideas of a pos-sible redesign for the electrical system of the aircraftto make it safer and easier to operate. Building theseideas into the current working fuselage is not possible, due to current operation and space requirements.

The goal of this thesis is to create a detailed designand prototype of the demonstrator payload area, whichincludes improved functionality compared to currentlyexisting one. Proposed design changes are an electricswitch board, improved power distribution system andBUS based communication system for actuators. Thepayload area prototype will be build into an electricmock-up system, where step-by-step system integra-tion detailed system testing is possible.

The final design will be used to build a secondfuselage. The student can participate in the ca-bling/building process in future work.

Student Profile

The student should be interested in the field of air-craft systems. The student should have some experi-ence with electrical schematic design and 3D mechan-ical design tools. The student should be able to workand learn independently. Intrinsic motivation for pre-cise and clean work is an advantage. Final Documen-tation is expected in LATEX.
