Air Conditioning & ElectricalWhat We Do

Indoor Air Quality

Airhygiene is a specialised division within Airconstructdedicated to creating healthy indoor environments throughsmall and large scale split system sanitization, robotic in-ductcleaning and sealing and Indoor Air Quality Assessments andpollutant source tracing.

Research has shown that we spend up to 90% of our timeindoors yet many people are yet to fully understand the healthimplications of not having their equipment sanitized andserviced regularly. Sometimes the effect upon one's healthcan go unnoticed and other times it can be quite profound.Buildings are now built so airtight due to the costs of energythat we have constant indoor air quality issues due to a lack offresh air. When units are not sanitized regularly they willsupport the growth of mould and mycotoxins.

Energy efficiencyUnderstanding how to improve energy efficiency requiresmore than just an understanding of the HVAC equipment andthe building services alone. It requires an in-depthunderstanding of the building elements and how ambient andinternal pressures of the building can impact on its services.

Our holistic approach to heating ventilation and airconditioningensures that we can reduce costs by reduction of the amountspecialized contractors required. We travel nationally andunderstand the varying requirements of the different climaticregions of our country. Airconserve is an operating divisionwithin Airconstruct which can develop and implement energyreduction programs through either retrofitting and re-commissioning of existing HVAC equipment, or by identifyingareas of energy waste through enclosure integrity and ductleakage testing

The next generation in Commercial ducted air conditioninghas arrived. This Australian engineered system features newtechnology that delivers a combination of superiorperformance, energy efficiency, flexibility of design andinstallation time saving features. Furthermore, ActronAir®believes this technology has one of the lowest life cyclecosts of any product in its class.

A ‘typical’ commercial building air conditioner operatesbetween 60% to 75% capacity most of the time. This is whyActronAir® chose to design an air conditioner better suited tomeet the building load by developing theTri-Capacity Series.Energy usage is reduced through both the tri-capacityoperation and the incorporation of a high efficiency EC plugfan. The tri-capacity twin compressor configuration is unique inits class and delivers 3-steps of cooling and heating, whichallows the system to operate at 33%, 67% or 100% capacity. Not only does this improve seasonal energy efficiency throughfewer adjustments, it also results in less cyclic degradation andimproved end user comfort.

The EC evaporator plug fan uses significantly less energyversus traditional belt and pulley systems. The backward curvefan is non-overloading for maximum durability and results inlower life cycle costs. These plug fans also offer greaterflexibility in supply and return air configurations.

TheTri-Capacity Series offer noticeable time savings for themechanical contractor/installer during the commissioningprocess. For example the indoor air flow is adjusted using asimple ‘dial-up’ feature and results in more accurate air flowcontrol.

In addition, standard inclusions such as a 3-phase load breakisolation switch, in-built filter cavity, flexible handingconfigurations, Demand Response Ready operation, in-builtsafety tray (indoor units) and condensate drain points make lifeeasier by reducing the amount of work required on site.Designed to use the ActronAir® C7-4 controller with afterhours run timer, the units are also easy to wire. TheCommercial Control Interface (CCI) is included as standardand will suit most third party controls for greater flexibility.

Durability inside and out

Built for Australian conditions

Features to extend durability include powder coating thatexceeds Australian standards, the use of the highest qualitycomponents such as compliant scroll compressors and highperformance Outdoor fans, coil fin protection and louvre grilleto protect the coil from the elements.

Purpose built and designed for Australian conditions, theseunits have an operating range of -10°C to 50°C. In fact, allActronAir® models are subjected to further Maximum CoolingCapacity tests at 52°C (AS 3823.1.2Table 2T3).

To provide independent performance verification, ActronAir®has gone one step further by testing these units in anISO17025 accredited US laboratory. This reinforcesActronAir’s commitment to delivering and exceeding bothcurrent and future standards.

Emerging Trends

Upgrading your systems to natural hydrocarbon refrigerants…While the capital outlay at first glance may not appear to beaccountant friendly there are some long term advantages ofconverting to a hydrocarbon based system that can be bestdescribed as follows.

The available data indicates we can reduce therunning cost of your equipment by somewherebetween 10-30% due to the reduced workload on thecompressors and the system only containing roughlyone third of the charge required of conventionalrefrigerants.

Any ongoing replacement costs of refrigerant aresubstantially reduced from the current $250.00 perkilo and rising, to under $100.00 per kilo capped.

The labour component of on-site works is reducedwhen opening systems up for repairs ashydrocarbons can be vented to atmosphere withoutcompromising the environment.

Hydrocarbon refrigerants have zero ozone depletingpotential, as do most modern refrigerants, but with asignificantly low global warming potential of 3, whencompared to the global warming potential of 407C at1370 GWP and with an atmospheric lifetime of underone year compared to 407C at 16 years

Hydrocarbon refrigerants are almost in an azeotropicstate allowing for systems to be topped withouthaving to pump-down and install fresh weighedcritical charges.

We are industry leaders in our approach and we havethe data acquisition equipment coupled with thespecialist training to validate the results of any retrofitproject undertaken.

Case StudyAirconstruct have recently acquired an Actron 16 kilowatt ESPvertical Packaged unit to enter into a hydrocarbon case studyof our own. We will be using our climacheck system to verifythe compressor efficiency and publishing the results.

This case study involves the complete installation of this unitand controls as a secondary system to our companyheadquarters. This project will run for 12 months in variousstages and the results will be published on our website andLinkedIn page. This shows that our commitment to innovationis second to none.

How is Airhygiene put into action? In the case of commercial premises, it begins with a discretewalk through to establish how the building functions.

We may if requested, survey the building occupants and theirlocations, movements, tasks, and note any symptoms theymay be experiencing. We then carefully examine the inside ofthe building’s air conditioning and ventilation systems todiscover what possible contaminant sources could bepresent. This could involve taking samples for laboratorytesting to determine how people could be exposed, in order toformulate corrective actions.

In a home it could just be a simple visual analysis of thesystems and treatment with AerisGuard to bring theequipment to a safe, hygienic state.

The process we carry out is a complete sanitization of the unitwhich can often only be achieved by pulling the unitapart. This is referred to as a ‘strip and clean.’ If your unit onlyhas very low contamination it will be cleaned without completedisassembly using our "Hydroflush System".

It's tedious and time consuming but we have skilled efficientstaff that make the process affordable while still delivering theright results. After all it is about you. We understand you haveexpectations and we are here to meet or exceed them.

What sets us apart from other split system cleaningcompanies? We are a fully licensed fullservice air conditioning contractor. We have clients acrossmany sectors including education, health, mining hospitalityand government.

And above all, we will not compromise your health.
