2 – Cabin design for the elderly – Human factors in engineering
• The cabin design shall take into account demographic trends like increasing obesity and
also the growing number of diseases due to aging
• The required cabin design changes shall be retrofitable
• The adaption of the cabin to the demographic trends shall not reduce cabin revenue space
or at least minimize its impact
• Regulations and Guidelines related to Disability on board of an aircraft shall be considered

Telemedicine communication
June 23rd, 2017 Soframas Le Bourget: New aircraft cabins and adaptation to aging passengers
39
• Telemedicine box uses aircraft WIFI network
• It communicates with the ground via high speed satellite communication
• Telemedicine box can be operated by any cabin crew (non medical person)
• Real time monitoring of person’s vital signs by a doctor in an operational center on ground.
• For airlines, it provides the maximum duty of care for their passengers while minimizing
operational diversions as a result of medical incidents
