The Fantasia range has been continuously developed over the past three decades and we still strive to remain at the forefront of new product development, consistently introducing innovative new designs. Our range now consists of over 20 models which are complemented by a comprehensive range of accessories such as fanlights, remote controls and wall controls.

10 Year WarrantyAs a sign of our confidence in our fans we back every Fantasia motor with a 10 year warranty. If you have any motor problems within the 10 year period then we’ll repair or replace it free of charge.

Lighting OptionsMany fan models come complete with lights but almost all are light adaptable giving a wide variety of options to suit individual tastes. We offer a selection of halogen and traditional lighting. Our Fan Lighting range starts on Page 35.

Quiet, efficient, low maintenanceFantasia fans combine larger motors with a steeper blade pitch to maximise the circulation of air whilst ensuring whisper quiet, economical and well balanced operation.

Blade OptionsSeveral fans are available in a choice of two sizes. Blade colours are interchangeable within each range and many models have a variety of additional blade options, full details of which can be found on Page 45.

Air MovementAll Fantasia fans have a built in reverse function so they can be operated in summer for a cooling effect and then reversed in winter to re-circulate warm air trapped at ceiling level, eliminating cold spots and draughts.

Versatile InstallationOur range consists of drop mount, dual mount and flush mount fans to fit varying ceiling heights, with a selection of longer drop rods. Conversion kits and specialist fixings for conservatories are also available. Whatever your installation requirements there will be a Fantasia fan to suit your needs.

Control OptionsA number of fan models are operated by remote control as standard but those with pull cords can still be fitted with a remote controller as an added option. We also supply single wall controls to operate fan speeds and double wall controls to operate both the speeds and the fan light.

1Fantasia Ceiling Fans 2010/11

We consider care for the environment to be one of our key responsibilities and an important part of the way in which we do business. Protection of the environment in which we live and operate is part of Fantasia’s values and principles.

We are energy conscious when looking for new product and for 2010 we have expanded our DC motor range, which uses 60% less power consumption than a standard fan. We have also introduced our first low energy LED fan light and will be expanding this element of our range in the future.

Fantasia ceiling fans are better for the environment than many air cooling systems. Running costs are less than running a 100w light bulb for the same period. The winter setting on our ceiling fans re-circulates warm air trapped at ceiling level, eliminating cold spots and draughts and distributing room heat without creating a cooling breeze. Used correctly, a fan can save as much as 10% on energy bills during winter months.

Running a larger fan on a lower speed is not only more relaxing but it is more efficient too as the lower speeds achieve higher levels of air movement per watt.

Fantasia Top TipOur 36"/910mm fans are particularly suitable for smaller rooms and come flush mounted as standard, making them ideal for low ceilings.

A fan of this size can usually cover a 12ft x 12ft room (3.6m x 3.6m) but do take into consideration whether the room is likely to get hotter than average, for example a south facing room or a conservatory. In those cases a 42"/1070mm fan may be more appropriate.

Welcome to Fantasia’s collection of fanlights to complement our ceiling fans. All our lighting is exclusively for use with our fans. We offer two main types of lighting:

Halogen Lighting We have a wide variety of halogen light kits from compact clusters, to swirl and arch designs. Our halogen light kits come complete with either G9 or GU10 bulbs. Their long life span, bright illumination, efficiency and compact size make halogen lights an excellent choice for any installation. GU10 lighting is particularly good for locations where targeted or focused lighting is required while G9 lighting provides a more diffused light. They are excellent for lighting a large area and are also dimmable, unlike most compact fluorescent bulbs.

Traditional Lighting Traditional or ‘tungsten’ fanlights are available in several styles including clusters, single globes and 3 arm fittings. Shades are interchangeable within the different ranges and we have a wide variety of finishes available to match all of our fans; more than we have room to picture here so please contact our Sales Office for more information. All our traditional light kits take a bayonet cap bulb.

Accessories

Welcome to Fantasia’s range of accessories. We look to ensure that our fans are suitable for almost any installation and so we offer a wide variety of optional extras to suit individual needs.

Controls Fantasia offer remote controls and wall controls which are suitable for use with all of our fans. Our remote control operates the 3 speeds of the fan plus the on/off and dimming of the light. Our wall controls are available in a choice of finishes to match any interior and are either single controls, for operating the 3 speeds, or double controls, for operating the 3 speeds plus the dimming of the light.

Mounting Options Fantasia drop rods are available in a selection of lengths from 12” (300mm) to 72” (1830mm) to accommodate almost any installation. For those fans that already come with a short rod (drop mount fans) simply add the longer rod. Where the fan comes flush mount as standard, a conversion kit can be added to convert it to a drop rod style. For some conservatory installations a big-strip fastener may be useful. This enables multiple fixing points to be used on even the narrowest tie bar or joist.

Q.WhybuyaFantasiaFan?A. Fantasia fans can be more expensive than others

on the market but this can be explained by their many superior qualities. The silicon steel motors are larger, meaning more air movement, and have double sealed bearings to ensure durability and quiet operation. All metal finishes are double lacquered to eliminate tarnishing and all fans are supplied with a 10 year warranty.

Q.Doceilingfansrequireanyspecialwiringandaretheydifficulttofit?

A. A fan with or without lights can be wired into an existing lighting circuit and is a simple DIY job. If you are in any doubt then consult a qualified electrician.

Q.Arefansnoisyanddotheywobble?A. Some competitors’ fans are noisy and wobble

because they are made from lower quality materials. Fantasia fans run quietly and, even when fitted with a drop rod, are very stable.

Q.Howisthespeedofthefancontrolled?A. Fantasia fans have either a remote control, wall

control or an integral pull switch to operate the 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds. If a fan does not have a pull cord then it will be supplied complete with a remote or wall control as specified. All our pull cord operate fans can be upgraded to either a wall control or a remote control.

Q.Canfansbeoperatedfromawallcontrol?A. Fantasia fans can be operated by either a single

wall control or, if the fan has a light, a double wall control/dimmer. A standard dimmer switch cannot be used to adjust fan speeds.

Q.Whatisthewattageofafanmotor?A. The power rating of our fan motors ranges from

30 watts (the Alpha) to 75 watts. The average fan motor is 65 watts. Generally speaking, the larger the fan the higher the motor wattage.

Q.Howmuchdoesafancosttorun?A. Fantasia fans run off the standard lighting circuit

(5 amp) and are very economical to run, costing approximately 5p for 8 hours at high speed – less than a 100w light bulb. The winter setting on our fans re-circulates warm air trapped at ceiling level, eliminating cold spots and draughts and distributing room heat without creating a cooling draft. Used correctly, a fan can save as much as 10% on energy bills during winter months.

Q.Whatistheminimummountingheightforafan?

A. The British Standards Institute recommends that the blades should be no less than 7ft 6" from the floor.

Q.HowdoIworkoutthelengthofdroprodrequiredwhenfittingthefanintoaconservatoryorhighceiling?

A. The drop rod length is determined by the ceiling height. The optimum height from the floor to the blade is between 7ft6” and 9ft and flush mounted fans will require a conversion kit to fit a drop rod.

Q.Canfansbeinstalledonaslopingceiling?A. Fans can be installed up to an angle of 40°. A

minimum of 8" must be allowed between the tip of the blade and the slope of the ceiling, or any other obstruction.

Q.Doesthefanrequireanymaintenanceorcleaning?

A. All Fantasia fans have permanently sealed bearings, double lacquered surfaces and do not require maintenance. An occasional light dusting with a soft cloth is all that is required although it is suggested that all fixings/screws are tightened annually.

NOTE

These controls do not switch the fan from forward to reverse. This must be done with the manual reverse switch on the fan itself. Only Fantasia wall controls can be used to control fan motors. A standard light dimmer used on a Fantasia fan motor will cause it to buzz.



Accessories

ConversionKit

This is required when changing a flush mounted fan (fig 1) to a drop mount (fig 2). The conversion kit will allow a fan to be mounted on a slope up to 40 degrees. Different finishes available (refer to price list).

Ask your conservatory supplier whether a big strip fastener is suitable for your installation.

DropRods

A drop rod lowers the fan to the required height above the floor. Available in lengths from 12"(300mm) to 72" (1830mm).

Please check carefully the type of drop rod the fan requires. Check whether the ceiling fan ordered requires a 22mm diameter drop rod or a 27mm diameter drop rod. Drop rods can be cut to size.

Some finishes of drop rod are only available up to 30"(760mm) in length.

When choosing a ceiling fan it is important to remember that it is more relaxing and efficient to run a larger fan on a slower speed than a smaller fan on a high speed.

Fantasia Fans range in size from 36"/910mm to 56"/1420mm in diameter to suit any installation.We do not recommend the use of a 36" fan in a conservatory, as it would not be sufficient to affect the build up of heat that a conservatory creates. A conservatory installation may require a drop rod and conversion kit. A drop rod and conversion kit can be ordered separately for flush mounted fans.

The guide below suggests the fan size most appropriate for the installation.

The size guide is based on rooms with ceilings of 8'2" (2.5m). For rooms with higher ceilings a drop rod should be used to drop the fan down to 8'2" (2.5m) above the floor. Should the room have abnormal heat conditions go to the next fan size up in relation to the information in the above size guide.

Fanblades

Fantasia fan blades are available in many different finishes. They can be swapped within each range. Often there is a different finish on the reverse side of the blade. The blade can be attached either way up to compliment different interiors. See page 45 for full blade listing.

Conversionkits

Flush mounted fans can be converted to drop mount by using a conversion kit and drop rod. Dual mount fans do not require conversion kits.

Wiring

Fantasia Fans run from standard lighting wiring (two core and earth). If you wish to install a double wall control then three core and earth wiring is required.

Installation

We recommend installation is carried out in accordance with National Electrical Codes. The fixing point for the ceiling fan must be strong enough to hold 10 times the fan’s stationary weight. Minimum recommended ceiling height for fan installation is 8'2"/2.5m. Ensure there is at least 8"/200mm between the fan blade and any obstruction.

Remotecontrol

This is a popular way of controlling our ceiling fans and lights. The remote control consists of a handset and receiver and can be installed in any of our fans. You can fit the remote control after the fan has been installed. The remote control cannot be used in conjunction with a wall control.

Technical

Fantasia fans can be operated in summer for a cooling effect and reversed in winter to re-circulate warm air trapped at ceiling level.

Fantasia fan motors are of silicon steel construction with double sealed bearings, ensuring long, quiet, reliable and maintenance-free operation. Fantasia motor housings are of metal or wood construction. All metal surfaces are powder coated or plated and lacquered to give a permanent seal and prevent tarnishing.

All models operate on 220–240 volt AC/50–60 Hz electricity supply. The power rating of our fan motors range from 60–75 watts with 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds. Fan running costs are less than running a 100w light bulb for the same period.

Installing a Fantasia fan is similar to installing a light fitting but you must ensure that the fan blade tips are at least 8" (200mm) from any obstruction such as a sloping roof or beam. Blades should be mounted at least 7ft 6" (2.3m) from the floor.

Ceiling fans can be installed in any room, except bathrooms. In conservatories or rooms with higher ceilings a drop rod and conversion kit may be required (see page 47 for more information). Wall controls and remote controls are also available.

DCmotors

We are energy conscious when looking for new product and for 2010 we have expanded our DC motor range, which uses 60% less power consumption than a standard fan. We have also introduced our first low energy LED fan light and intend to expand this element of our range in the future.
