Course Aim1 To facilitate a theoretical and practical

understanding of light vehicle air conditioning systems to promote safe servicing and refrigerant handling.

2 To assess technician theoretical and practical competence in the handling of refrigerant gases to the DEFRA approved IMI A/C ATA refrigerant handling standard.

Course Duration1.1 Day (8 hours contact) 8 technicians’ maximum.

Course ContentFundamentals of air conditioning systems,

servicing, procedures including the safe handling of refrigerant gases, and F-Gas assessment in compliance to regulation EC842-2006

Target Group1 Technicians who have read the self study

material (supplied upon placing the course booking).

2 Technicians who already have a basic working knowledge of the operation of Air

greenhouse gases in motor cars (and car derived vans), the environmental impact of

gas refrigerants, the corresponding environmental regulations, and procedures for environment friendly recovery

3 Technicians who have a need to prove competence in the safe handling of refrigerants to comply with the law.

The handheld CLT1 controls (by bypassing the vehicle’s on board control unit) the clutch

on many modern vehicle A/C systems. These compressors use an electronic control valve to regulate the displacement (“refrigerant output”) of the compressor. By controlling this electronic valve manually, independently from the on board computer, a more precise diagnosis may be made on the system.The capacity of the compressor can be manually regulated using the CLT1 from 3% - 100%.The CLT1 is powered by the vehicles battery.Vehicle manufacturers that utilize this clutchless, electronically controlled compressor are (among others): Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Peugeot, Citroën, BMW, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz.
