ABOUT THE AIPMM CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION

The ACPM®, CPM® and CPMM® Certification Examinations are designed to assess your ability to apply product

management and product marketing knowledge to real-life product life-cycle decisions. By passing this exam, you

demonstrate that you have the appropriate level of competency required to create, manage and support

products and services at all stages of the life-cycle. These exams are challenging and rigorous, and carry

worldwide credibility so the highest integrity is expected during the exam process.

CERTIFIED PRODUCT MANAGER

The CPM® credentials indicate a thorough understanding of the functions responsible for championing new

product to sales people, the channel and customers.

PROCEDURE FOR SECURING A PROCTOR

AIPMM recognizes that the available testing centers may not meet the needs of all the candidates who wish to sit

for the AIPMM Certification Exams. Therefore, we have a procedure for securing a proctor outside the currently

approved proctors.

TO THE CERTIFICATION CANDIDATE:

It is the responsibility of the certification candidate to find a qualified proctor. This proctor should be someone

who is a professional proctor or an AIPMM Certified Product Manager® (see qualifications below) and must

accept the responsibility of administering the exam(s) to the certification candidate. All proctors are subject to

AIPMM approval.

PROCTOR QUALIFICATIONS

Proctors may be college/university academic professionals (professors, deans, etc.); a commercial testing center

(e.g., Sylvan Learning Center); librarians; education testing officers (ESO/TCO); secondary school principals and

vice principals; superintendents/assistant superintendents; school system curriculum directors; secondary school

and college counselors; human resources training/education professional; and designated AIPMM testing partner. AIPMM, Inc. reserves the right to verify proctor qualifications, require additional evidence of eligibility or select a

different proctor. The Proctor Agreement may be terminated for any cause by the proctor, certification

candidate, or AIPMM upon written or verbal notification to all parties.

Certification Candidates are responsible for arrangements made to take the exam and all fees

associated with the selected testing center / proctor.

Note: You will find the Examination Proctor Agreement Form and proctor responsibilities on the following pages.

EXAMINATION PROCTOR GUIDELINES

Certification Candidates may take examinations at work or at home as long as security measures for administering

the test are strictly maintained before, during and after testing. The certification candidate is responsible for

selecting a qualified proctor. The test is a timed test (4 hours). The examination should be administered in a quiet,

well-lit office or classroom setting conducive to concentration.

PROCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES – PAPER EXAMS & ONLINE EXAMS

PAPER EXAM: You will be sent the paper exam in a sealed envelope. Do not open the examination envelope until the examination period begins. Store the exam in a secure location where it cannot be accessed by other certification candidates.

Page 14: AIPMM Certification Procedure - 2009-2010

Ensure that the certification candidate does not access notes, books, or articles during the exam unless the

test specifies otherwise. The certification candidate must not receive any help, either written or oral,

during the examination period.

No cell phones, Blackberries, or other electronic devices.

An examination site should be arranged that is quiet and that provides the certification candidate with the

opportunity to write the examination without being interrupted.

The time limits for writing the examination are as follows: 4 hours on the day of testing for paper

examinations; 2 hours on the day of testing for online examinations.

Certification Candidates may bring food to the examination site, if allowed, but may not leave the site to

acquire food.

Certification Candidates may take brief restroom breaks but then must immediately return to the testing

site.

Time the test and stop the examinee after time has been expended.

Note any testing irregularities on a separate sheet and send back with the exam.

Upon completion, the paper test must remain sealed and secured with the proctor until mailing.

Ship completed test and original question page to designated address within 4 hours of test completion.

Use traceable shipping procedures (UPS, FedEx, etc.) Certification Candidate is responsible for cost of

shipping.

The proctor must remain present during the entire examination period.

The certification candidate should have a clock or watch visible during the examination period. The

proctor, from time to time, should make the certification candidate aware of the amount of time

remaining in the examination period.

If a fee is charged for exam supervision, request payment from the certification candidate at the time of testing. AIPMM, Inc. will not pay proctor fees.
