Today’s focus:
• New methods of production used during the Industrial Revolution.
• Business organizations that arose (came about) during the Industrial Revolution
Throughout the lesson, I would like to show a few candidly poignant videos surrounding this very topic of new methods of business practices, starting with, “Henry Ford, Model T, and the Assembly Line.”

OBJECTIVE 1
Working in groups of 5/6: • Each group will be responsible for the creation of a picture that illustrates the effects of the three methods of production. • To facilitate this hands-on “fun” cooperative learning activity, students will be given markers/crayons/color pencils, construction paper and be allowed to use their homework and textbook to assist them on this particular task. --Possible resource: Section 3 Review question #3 (graphic organizer)

Illustrations will vary. Effects of all three methods were:--increased production--lower cost of production--higher profits for owners--lower cost to consumersAn additional effect of the assembly line was that it saved time and energy.

OBJECTIVE 2: Types of Business
• Re-read p.557 and define the terms sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation.
• For each term, identify a business in your community that fits that definition. • Finally, write at least one paragraph answering the question: Why have corporations been so important to the U.S. economy since the Industrial Revolution? Support your argument with specific details – from the news, past research, or your personal experience. – In the end, we will conduct a group “share out” with the rest of the
classroom ensuring that we are all on the “same page,” and thoroughly comprehend this very important assignment.
